Uploads to the library

A few questions for readers of and contributors to this forum. Can anyone tell me how to use my new ATI Radeon HD 3650 AGP card with my AsRock mobo to run FU3 without crashing to desktop after 30 seconds? I bought it to replace a Nvidia 7 series that packed up after 4 months or so. I really wish it hadn't died because while the replacement is superb with new games, it doesn't seem to do at all well with this older sim.Somewhat off the point, on a couple of (30 second) flights I got the 1 pixel gap in my F3 view. I thought that only happened with some Nvidia cards...?On a different note, the *.tag file in seamod.zip and the *.res file in real_microlight_v1.10.zip appear to have bad checksums. I did manage to extract the .tag, along with the .bin & .mips, from seamod.zip but it can't have been readable- I ended up with only JP's trees. I couldn't do anything with the .res file. Also the file 172interior.zip is missing the *.bmp files and contains only the ResViewer import script. Is there any chance they could be repaired or replaced? Or is it all just a foible of my local library's network? And hot on the heels of the above, a question for Avsim staff. Sorry chaps, it's one you're probably already tired of reading.Do you know when it will be possible to submit new stuff for upload to the library? I have 2 controlled and 1 public outer terrain airport made up and ready to share: Walla Walla, Yakima and South Lake Tahoe. I like to think they're approaching Jon Point's Clare's Valley package (which served as inspiration) in terms of detail and I'd be interested in getting some feedback on them.

Crashing to desktop after 30 seconds doesn't sound like a video card problem. If the card were truly incompatible it would go bad imminently. Actually, you'd hardly get anything but display anomalies. What you say suggests that there some error in your FU III installation that causes a crash, maybe when a certain airport is trying to load. Have you installed anything new since last time it worked? You may have a corrupt file that throws the sim out of whack. Checksums that don't match may be an indication.Consider what you have added lately and try to move it out. If you see the "Nvidia line" with your card that can be fixed. I guess most of us use amended panels with the "one pixel overlap" these days.

Hi Hans Petter. Thanks for your reply.I'm chuckling quietly here because the only thing I installed was the card. (I know that's not what you meant...). The installation worked OK before I put the card in and it works OK now that I've taken the card back out. A clean, un-modded installation behaves in the same way.The Radeon is an OEM card ('Powered by ATI', not 'Built by ATI') and needed the manufacturer's own drivers so I guess it might be an oversight in their openGL programming. It's really frustrating as you can imagine because my other favourite waste of time, X3 (space game), needs a dedicated card to run so I only get one or the other and have to muck about with the hardware. I may just give up & go for an Nvidia 6800 or something like that though I suppose really I should bite the bullet and get a decent PC.I could have been clearer regarding the checksum thing. I have to download at work or the local library- no internet at home :( :I recently tried downloading seamod.zip and I'm pretty certain the zipfile in the Avsim Library is corrupt. Winzip, 7zip and WinRar all fail to extract the .tag file, giving an error message stating the checksum is wrong. The other files all come out ok. The only application that has a good go is ZipGenius (which doesn't seem to be so choosy about what it handles) but even so, the extracted .tag file doesn't work.I suspect it's a carryover from the disaster at the start of the summer... The same thing probably applies to the other files I mentioned.
