September 19, 200916 yr Hello everybody, thanks for taking the time to read this. I recently purchased a laptop which in my opinion has performed quite well if every other task, except my fs. I understand its a demanding game, but i believe it should run a little better than it is. my pcs complete stats can be found on this website under SPECS: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/compute...NV022UA%2523ABA . It seems that most of the sliders i adjust do not change the fps significantly. I am stuck at 15-20 in rural areas and 3-8 in urban. Any help is appreciated. thank you.

September 19, 200916 yr ive tried all basically. it seems to run best with the scenery complexity at a minimum, but without that your fsx is pointless :(
September 19, 200916 yr ive tried all basically. it seems to run best with the scenery complexity at a minimum, but without that your fsx is pointless :(First off make SURE Service Pack 2 is installed (or you have the Acceleration expansion). If you dont have acceleration, install SP1, then start up FSX. Stop FSX and install SP2.Start off with mid settings, with autogen, ALL traffic and light bloom OFF, then work up from there. These 3 settings are the biggest FPS hitters in the sim. Adrian Burley London, UK
September 19, 200916 yr Reasonable advice from Adrian to which I would add: Allow plenty of time for FSX to defrag after installation. Use a non-default defragmentation tool, use it correctly and use it often. Advice on that is already in the forums especially from Nick N, who also offers a truly wonderful setup guide for FSX itself.Next, when first launching FS after defragmentation allow the game to set the scenery and complexity preferences - the game uses a sophisticated algorithm to recommend settings. Now these tend to be unnecessarily low, but what they can do is `suggest` where your rig may be suffering most in display GPU or calculating CPU stakes. Look for any sliders that are positioned seemingly very low...I use this `tool` on numerous occasions to help troubleshoot FSX-user systems as it allows for a base setting as Adrian recommends, and provides clues as to where the box might be `weak`. An example: On my own old, old system (single core AMD64, very average GPU) I could not get FSX to run smoothly (it's all about smooooth, FSX, not about fps) no matter the slider settings, unless I turned off the autogen. So I spent ages faffing about with sliders and modified autogen, .cfg file mods and all sorts of silliness. Only after accidentally hitting the default settings button did I see the real cause - the problem was NOT the autogen, it was the mesh setting (both share CPU calls and obviously mesh takes prioirity over what sits on it, so if there is no spare capacity, the smoothness is dragged into the gutter). It didn't have anything to do with the mesh resolution, only the slider setting. 38m mesh, 20% on slider and now with autogen on `normal` I have a smooth flying experience. The recommended settings may not be where you want the sliders to be, but if you use that as a baseline rather than `middle everything` you can quickly see where your bottleneck on your system is occurring.
September 23, 200916 yr hey guys just to update. i did install O&O and ran that but with not much difference, although i am now keeping a constant update of my systems defragging. anyway, with regards to fsx, i have noticed that when i keep my IVAp window open, my game runs totally stutter free, with 30 fps in heavy scenery areas, so i know it is not my system that is not able to handle the game, but rather it is limited some how by something. perhaps i can force AA to be off some how, but shutting it off thru CCC doesnt help any. can anyone help out with this? thanks.
