September 19, 200916 yr new or worsening problem(s). while flying an fsx default twin, there will be a sudden loss of power and manifold pressure aand fuel flow drop to close to zero. can happen early in flight or after 1-2 hours. then indicated air speed drops to zero and panel gauge and in readout with shift/z. have tried to fix when it occurs but nothing has worked: playing with fuel mix, jockying throttles, cutting fule and then restarting engine. have tried switching to other default aircraft or occasionally a 3rd party twinlllll; sometimes the problem is present in the new aircraft but i am not sure whether the problem always carries over to the new aircraft. occasionally, only the indicated airspeed stops registering, without the other engine issues; in such a case the flight appears unaffected (gps still show correct ground speed) and other times the airspped indication returns spontaneously.if i shut the sim down and reopen a new flight, the problem is no longer present (at least at the start of the new flight).i checked the realism settings, and no failures are checked off. i have not yet checked all possibilities yet. the sim appears to be otherwise functioning very nicely.i wonder whether the issue is with one or more of the gauges, or rather in some mysterious occult portion off fsx.any suggesions would be greatly appreciated.steve chavin
September 19, 200916 yr carb icing is present in FSX. Yes, even with fuel injected aircraft - go figure - use carb heat.
September 20, 200916 yr Author carb icing is present in FSX. Yes, even with fuel injected aircraft - go figure - use carb heat.ulf and snave:thanks for the suggestions. i have never paid attention to pitot or carb controls. i tried 1 flight with the beech baron and pitot heat switched on and the flight was flawless. i could not find any carb heater controls on the several ga planes i looked at (including the baron). do most of the fsx aircraft have carb heaters and panel switches for them?i will do some more experimenting when i return from a short holiday. any further suggestions would be most welcome.steve chavin
September 20, 200916 yr i could not find any carb heater controls on the several ga planes i looked at (including the baron). do most of the fsx aircraft have carb heaters and panel switches for them?My experience is that even if the aircraft doesn't have switches for carburator heaters you may use the FSX short cut keys to toggle them on/off. It's odd. I have the key H assigned in FSX to that function. Can't remember if I've changed that assignment.
