September 25, 200916 yr :( Along with allot of other bugs I've encountered, there is one thing that really irks me, now I maybe wrong on this, but I did see some other posts and their questions weren't answered by anyone. It seems that the TCAS system has no Aural warnings. You only get the start up TCAS SYSTEM OK. So is that it? If it is, man that's not too cool, hope I'm wrong, but I've found no sound files to back it up. The TCAS start up sound file must be embedded in the gauge DLL, because there is no standard PMDG sound file as is customary with they're other products. If you have no Traffic Traffic, Descend Descend, than that's a cryin shame. Like I said, hope I'm wrong.
September 25, 200916 yr You'll probably get a response if you reply with your full name. The TCAS warnings are most definitely modeled. Blake Williams
September 25, 200916 yr Oh, thanks for the quick reply. So, am I missing something?Well, If yours is working, than mine must be too. I thought I had it all setup, guess not.
September 25, 200916 yr I haven't had time to sit down and review that planes systems since I purchased it. I actually really haven't had time to fly it either - been too busy lately with work :( I do know however that the TCAS system is completely modeled. You can send PMDG support an email with your order number, and they should be able to sort it out. Sorry I couldn't be of better assistance. Blake Williams
September 25, 200916 yr Thanks, maybe someone who has been flying it can confirm it. Thanks again though.
September 25, 200916 yr J41 is fitted with TCAS I, and as such there are no RA's or their associated aural alerts. This is accurate. That said, I too have had an issue where I'm not getting the "TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC" callout when I get a TA. In about 30 seconds, that issue will be filed in the PMDG bug tracking system.Regards,Nick
September 25, 200916 yr Thanks very much for the reply. You have to wonder how something that important could make it out they're door in the first place. Oh well.
September 25, 200916 yr You have to wonder how something that important could make it out they're door in the first place. Oh well.Because it worked for all the beta testers who checked the TCAS, that's why. I flew the entire Beta series without AI traffic, thus, I never specifically tested the TCAS system. Others did, and they reported no issues. Given the breadth and scope of the things that need to be tested in a complex addon, you don't typically waste a lot of time checking things that others have verified to be working properly unless requested to do so.Assuming there really was a mistake made with the TCAS sounds - and it's not a foregone conclusion that there was - is it really that appalling? If there's a verifiable and reproduceable issue here, I'm sure it will be fixed in SP1. As I mentioned, I've already entered the issue in the bug tracking system.Nick
September 26, 200916 yr I'm not appalled per say, I thought I ended my comment on a more relaxed note by saying, Oh well. We all no the trials and tribulations of these software creations and none are ever received in perfect condition.
September 26, 200916 yr No worries. I shouldn't allow myself to get bent out of shape. I'm working on that.Nick
