747 FSX VOR nav Question

Recommended Posts

Greetings. Can anyone tell me if its possible, while navigating using the VOR display on the ND, to switch from VOR L to VOR R?I thought it might be the switch shown in the image below, but it doesn't seem to do anything.vorri.jpgThanksJordan Forrest

Jordon, not sure what you are asking. The image link hit a 404.The ND will display RMI style VOR pointers when turned on by switches you mention. Maybe they were off range if you didn't have circle display instead of default segment? The VORs are auto tuned as the FMS flys along the LNAV route.

I believe he wants to navigate by going VOR to VOR instead of programming in the FMC

Yeah VOR to VOR.I can only get info from VOR L to show on the ND in the RMI format, which means when I want to fly to the next VOR I have to enter that freq into the Rad/Nav page, rather than switching to VOR R. If that makes sense.

Or you could put the VOR into the LEGS page and fly to it as a fix. Otherwise, the RAD/NAV page needs to be updated for each station, put her on a HDG hold while you make the changes. The 747-400 probably isn't flown VOR to VOR like we learn in private pilot training very often.

The item you're pointing at is the comm identifier. You'll hear a morse code beacon with that switched on (if you have a navaid dialed in the respective transceiver and are within range of the signal). There are several ways you can do it. You can program the VOR to VOR route in the FMC, as downscc mentioned, or you can go to the FIX page and enter the VORs as fixes. IE if you want to fly the 180 radial to the ORL VOR you would need to enter the reciprocal radial. IE 360/10 and drop that in 2L LSK.But to answer your question about the VOR indicators on the EHSI,744-1.jpg
