elloNhancer 2.5.7 has more catagories than what has been covered in Nick's recommended FSX settings at http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041. Some of the specifics he mentioned for the older versions are no longer included and a number of new settings are required, as follows: In Profile Enhancements - Ambient Occlusion Optimizations - Power Management Mode Compatibility - Direct 3D9 compatibility - Open GL Support 2 - Conformant Texture Clamp (Off, Specification or Hardware) - Single Back Depth Buffer - Miltiple Monitor BufferOf course they are also duplicated in the Global settings Does anyone (Nick?) have recommendations on these new settings for FSX? OpenGL is not used for MSFS. MSFS is a D3D application. The suggested settings for OGL can be changed to suit the OGL based application The MSFS rendering engine does not support AO (ambient occulsion)I did post updated instructions in the FSX Tuning thread which address the new settings even if the images may not show those changes. ===============================================THE SETTINGS IN THE NEW NHANCER THAT MAY LOOK DIFFERENT THAN THE OLD:POWER MANAGEMENT: MAX PERFORMANCEAMBIENT OCCLUSION: MSFS does not support AONOTE: There is a new tab named OpenGL which these settings appear. General Compatibility (default) is fine StephenAs for tweaks.. those are all system specificI do use Texture_Bandwidth_Multiplier=80 and Bufferpools=100000000 but bufferpools is 'very' system specific. Its only used to smooth out flight over large amounts of autogen such as trees, and, there can be reasons to use a very high amount to overcome a DPC Latency issue with sound crackle and high autogen settings on some motherboards as was discovered by another member here. Typical range for the 1GB cards is 35000000 to 200000000 but in sound issue situations is know to go as high as 490000000. Many find setting any amount in the config file nets worse results.. so the use of and the value can vary from system to system.I do not use the FPS Limiter.. some find this helps because it is sort of a shortcut to tuning. I have seen more benefit with the FPS Limiter on Intel C2/Q systems but have seen absolutely no benefit to using it with i7. Its use would have nothing to do with the OS and with W7 there may be problems trying to use it. At this point in time I have not attempted to use it for W7. Affinity Mask is another setting that is very system specific. To date I have only seen i7 systems make really good use of it. None of the Intel C2/Q systems I have personally set up make any use of Affinity Mask but there are always exceptions out there with all the hardware combinations on the market.. typically the number that obtains the best result with that setting is 14 if it does provide any relief at all but there can be exceptions to that as well. If the system is smooth there is not reason to bother with it.There is really no magic cure in that config file. To date I have never seen a system using fairly modern high performance hardware use less than a 80 TBM setting and I always set the DisablePreload flag, other than that it is pretty strait forward and requires a bit of trial and error to check if the other settings mentioned will provide anything at all. I start out with the 2 settings I posted above, those and the widescreen aspect change if the system is running a wide screen monitor.. then I tune FSX by the sliders and checkboxes and last after I have gone through everything else I look at any benefit to bufferpools or affinity mask... neither setting is for frames, only smoother flight (bufferpools over large autogen forests or cities) and if tuning nets a smooth result there is no reason to even bother with those edits.
