October 27, 200916 yr It's part of human nature that we all have strengths and weaknesses. And this generally carries through into FS developers, (particularly the smaller developers, who may not have a wide number of resources to draw on).Eg.. Some developers are wonderful at texturing, but weaker on systems modelling, or flight dynamics. Others are the other way around.I was looking at the Captain Sim 727 Pro yesterday, at a friends house, and I was blown away by how beautiful the VC is modelled. The texturing is stunning. FPS Performance isn't too bad because the aircraft doesn't have a lot in the way of complex systems (like FMS) and no glass gauges.I then considered how feedback about the Captain Sim 757 and 767 systems modelling is sometimes critical. (Having seen how the CS 757's VNAV performs, I can share this view!), so although it's a contentious point, I would say that it seems Captain Sim have a real strength is texturing and modelling, and less so in complex systems coding. And it suddenly came to me; Why on Earth don't Captain Sim produce a Boeing 737-200 ADV ?!?! ....... just imagine it; being a 737 it's one of the most popular aircraft in both the real and sim worlds, they could achieve the same stunning texturing that they have in the 727 Pro, they could use many of the same 'parts' (ie.. the Sperry autopilot is the same in the 727 and older 737-200s), and they could avoid complex systems modelling for things like the FMC, constraints, LNAV, VNAV, no glass screens having to display the route, etc, etc .... they could use the standard key mappings for the Heading Bug and AP, as they have managed to implement on their 727 Pro (but NOT on their 757 or 767).........in short, it could be perfect !!Davido.
October 27, 200916 yr And we finally get a good Boeing 737-200ADV with VC. I'm all for it! I do know CS intends to do a Boeing 707 for FSX, so maybe after that? Somebody should suggest it at their forums.
