No ATC Text or Sound

Featured Replies

Hi,I have just got a new Vista PC and installed FSX.Everything works perfectly, except ATC DOES NOT WORK in FREE FLIGHT mode. There is no Text in the ATC Window, no ATC Sound, and I can blindly press button 1 or 2 (expecting a Comms Frequency change) and nothing happens.I can hear other Radio Conversions between other aircraft and ATC.Flying some of the Default missions included with FS, the ATC Window does seem to work, but only where is says "NO MESSAGES FROM ATC"Unusually, the ATC window is NOT transparent - it is solid colors.I have installed FSX on an old PC with Win XP SP2 and using the same set-up / aircraft / airports / Free Flight and ATC works fine. Thanks, WayneEnvironment is:PC - Dell Inspiron 545MTPROCESSOR - Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8200 (2.33GHz ⁄ 1333FSB ⁄ 4MB Cache) CHIPSET - Intel G33 MEMORY - 4GB (4x1GB) DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz memory HDD - 2x500GB SATA Hard Drive (1TB total) GRAPHICS - ATi Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2 AUDIO - Integrated High Definition 7.1 channel audio OS - Win Vista SP2FS - FSX - (SP1 installed after problem noticed - made no difference)

- and - 1 bit of info that I forgot to mention .....When FSX starts up - I do get a message from Vista saying something like "Windows has swapped to Vista Basic Display Mode to Support This Application "The display looks just fine, but I'm wonderring if the transparency of the ATC window might be causing Vista some issues.Wayne

Check fsx.cfg and make sure that the following variables are not set to 0 = disabled:UsePilotVoice=1PilotVoice=1Also, check the following setting to show ATC text:ShowATCText=1

Thanks Phil,Check the settings and they looked OK. In frustration, I de-installed FSX and re-installed, and guess what ! It now works perfectly !
