GTX295 against GTX260 Black Edition

Featured Replies

Today I had the chance to try a GTX295 from Asus on my system. To see what it did for FSX I first did a bencmarktest with my current GTX260 Black Edition ( factory overclocked ) and then with the GTX295.As the GTX295 was for someone else I did not overclock it.The GTX260 B.E. is comparable to a GTX280 ( in benchmarktest the GTX260 B.E. is slightly faster ). I used Fraps and FSX07 benchmark and did each benchmarktest 3 times. Each flight took about 3 minutes.Remember that I use two 26" lcd monitors as one wide 3d accelerated FSX screen. My settings where with all almost all sliders set to the right , except traffic ( aircraft, boats and cars ) set to zero and weather to clear sky. So all flights would be identical.UTX USA and GEX USA where installed as REX II water textures. So many highways and roads, houses and tress and good looking water and sky. At the bottom you can see my current hardware setup. Results :Asus GTX260 Black EditionMin 30 Max 46 Avg 39.42Asus 295GTXMin 37 Max 56 Avg 46.913 I am sure that if the GTX295 is overclocked the difference will be around 25% which is a lot !Conclusion : supercard for FSX !
