MD-11 FS9 Sudden issues loading

Featured Replies

Hello.I hope you all might be able to help me. Been flying the FS9 version for some time now without any problems. Finished a flight Thursday evening and all went fine. Tried to start a flight Friday and had some problems. I will typically load in VC at the gate. Everything loaded until it was time for the MD-11 to go thru its 15 second initialization process. It didn't and it won't. Instead the gauges stay black and the the VC is transparent in many places. I assumed that maybe my McAfee decided to erase a file as it did for my LDS a while ago so I unistalled McAfee and reinstalled the MD-11. Still same problems. I did not erase all my repaints and etc. however. If anyone has any ideas, I greatly appreciate some direction. Thanks!Chris

Heya Chris,Not sure how you originally unistalled it, but also make sure you manually remove any remaining files afterwords. Also, after uninstall, reboot and then run another flight prior to reinstalling. If you had your default flight of the MD-11 and FSX is trying to load it, perhaps it is what is/was corrupt. I often run a registry cleaner as well, just to be on the safe side. Here is a free one, with no advertisements or any of the BS that normally goes with freebies. Also I have had strange issues where a panel state appeared to get corrupted and did similar as you said and loading a different flight 1st (from the FSX menu) fixed it. I have had default flights prior to ever hearing of PMDG get corrupted for that matter, haha.Hope this helps.*Also, please sign your full name in posts as we like to make things a bit more personable here :)

Thanks Dan:Yeah, I did not do anything out of the ordinary. I'll give it a try.Chris Frasure

Well, i messed around with the MD-11 Load manager and it now loads. I found a little tid bit in the OPS section for PMDG that discusses a pre SP1 problem with weight distribution and a problem with initialization. I didn't go this route in my head at first bc it seemed that it was a problem with the original release. If I remember correctly, I was thinking about flying to VHHX and used TOPCAT to lessen my load for more fuel (MTOW/MLW). Seems that is when the problem came to fruition. Nonetheless, it works now and I'm a happy camper.Chris Frasure

Very strange indeed. Great catch on finding the problem and grats on the fix!
