November 27, 200916 yr Hello!I am creating my own livery for the MD-11.I have mad an image on the fuse, but when i load it in to FSX the underside is black and the wings contain parts of the Decal file. I think it has something to do with the decal file, because that is black and because it is on the wings.Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!Greetz,Rico Edit:Here is an image to show you what i mean:The wings are the same on the topside
November 27, 200916 yr Hiya Rico, It is hard to say since I would have to see exactly how it is your adding the decal (picure) to the fuelage, as well as how your saving the file (.dds file, if using FSX and if so DXT5 is needed or you lose your Alpha channel and you need an alpha for some of the livery files, DXT1 for the rest). It looks like the FSX preview screen there in your pic, so would say it's the Alpha issue. I recently answered a post and ended up giving somewhat of a mini tutorial here. I would need the information above and perhaps a screen shot of how your doing it. I suspect that if FS9, then the image may be a different type, and if FSX a possible Alpha channel issue.I am actually on Day 3 of writing a very detailed tutorial and hope to have it posted tonight or tomorrow. It is for FSX users, and beginners using PhotoShop, but it may shed some light on what's going on with yours, regardless of programs and FS version. Also, please include your full name in posts as per the PMDG forum guidelines :)Edit: It is probably becuase you do not have the textures in your texture folder. The MD-11 is different if your use to using the 744 in that with the 744, you can simple copy the texture.cfg file of any other texture folder into your new livery and it will default to the main texture folder if your missing your own files. You probably just need to go to another texture folder and copy the files you haven't created yet, or create your own and save them accordingly. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

Like with the 744 paint kit, they didn't include an operable Alpha channel. I have emailed them a few times about the issue on the 744 one not being there in the past but it still has the same problem as well. Hopefully they'll some day fix them or make note of the fix below in the read me, since the paintkits are insanely awesome .psd's and really show off their hard work and attention to detail, but unfortunately they lack with a couple minor simple fixes yet are major to anyone ever wanting to produce a workable livery from them.Anyway the fix is simple.Open an existing "PMDG_MD11_Fuse_Left_T.dds (Or right, both have the same Alpha channel so doesn't matter). Delete the all grey Alpha channel in your PMDG_MD11_Fuse_Left_T.dds and PMDG_MD11_Fuse_Right_T.dds, I would do the master template from the paintkit now too, to get it repaired for future liveries. From the channels tab of the Layers Panel from the good one you opened in step one, drag and drop the Alpha channel (Alpha 1) to your files (hold down shift while you do so, to have them align exactly). Again, both left and right have the same Alpha channel. Make sure you rotate the Master to the correct position before inserting one in it (Flip Vertically). Or you could always fix it by rotating just the channel rather than the whole image. ("Edit menu" to rotate individual, "Image menu" to rotate entire image). The issue with the decals.dds sounds like it is also the Alpha channel. Are you flipping them according to the way they are suppose to be flipped before saving? There isn't any word of this in the read me so you just have to open existing textures and compare their positions. You'll see that the Masters are not flipped the way the files need to be saved. I believe they did this to simplify doing the liveries. But you need to flip them into the proper position before saving. Also check out the Alpha channel. All grey is bad. That one you will have to modify yourself since they're your additions that need to be cut out in the alpha. You could try to fill the Alpha all white for now if you seem to be missing some. The way the Alpha channel works is Black hides, white shows. Grey or light grey should show partial, but it would have to be a white to grey gradient. Hope this helps, read my tutorial when finished. I will be going into detail how to do a lot of this.Enjoy what looks like a nice livery you got going there :) Post a couple screenies when your done. I'd love to see it. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

Hi Dan!Thank you very much for the fix!I got it working earlier! I took a decal file from an excisting plane (KLM livery) and pasted it in my texture map and that works!Just tried the fix you gave me, works great! The plane is an idea of me and a friend of mine, since we both like pirate stuff (like Pirates of the Caribbean, Monkey Island Series, etc).So i thought lets make and MD-11 airliner out of it. :( The idea was to create the side of a ship, with wood and portholes, the break the wood and show a treasure map.And some jolly rogers on the plane..Anyway.. some screenshots:Thanks again!Greetz,Ricardo van Kempen
