Real Environment Extreme Download Issue

Featured Replies

I just purchased Real Environment Extreme for FS2004. I downloaded from their link (FlightSim Store in Australia) and when it completed I get a failure on a CRC error when attempting to unzip the file. I have donwloaded it again and get the same error. I have tried to extract using WinZip, WinRar, and IZArc all to no avail. Anyone else had a problem?I sent off a ticket with the FlightSim Store folks but being Christmas I don't hold much hope I can fly with this over the Holidays. Very frustrating..John

Hi,Anti-virus Off while downloading?Tim has been around and if he sees this I am sure he will respond.

Hi John, as Jim states, please disable AV while downloading. It's been the number one cause of issues in this regards. Have you posted this in our forum? I know Adrian from FSS checks quite often and helps out there. As a consumer, I understand your frustration and I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and other folks. It will get sorted out, and thank you for your patience.

Guys; Thanks for your replies. I neglected to check support on your site. It seems this is a recurring problem. I have tried it a half dozen more times. the last try was to disable Anti-virus, then using IE and Star Downloader to C:\DOWNLOADS directory and then IZArc to unzip. Same message in all my attempts. The CRC failed and the file is corrupt. We'll have to wait for an official response but it does seem to be happening to just about everyone..John

John, it's not happening to everyone, and from the amount of inquiries recently, it's probably less then 2% of our actual customer base. I highly advise you post your problem in our forum so Adrian can help you 1 on 1 with your issue, or if you prefer to, simply open a support ticket at the flightsimstore.com.Thanks,Tim

Hi,Sometimes with very large downloads, download software does not always put the files back together correctly. I would try without the software and just a straight download. I know the download takes longer, but it may work out in the end.

Hello,Some sites (servers) don't like multiples downlads requests from a same IP (usually the case with a downloader software)The result at the end is a corrupted file .. hence your CRC error.Regards.XMAS_GS006.gifGus.

All;OK, I finally got it to work and here is what I did:Rebooted the PC and made sure nothing else was running.Used Star Downloader and set the download directory to C:\.Verified that Symantic Anti-virus is disabled for file system auto-protect.Star Downloader broke it into 4 pieces and then recombined them.I then extracted the file directly from Star Downloader WITHOUT using any third-party tool such as IZArc (not sure what Star Downloader uses). This successfully extracted the .exe file.Moved the .exe file to my directory of choice.Ran the .exe and installed.Pretty much what I had done before except I used the IZarc to attempt the extract. Perhaps the recombination/extraction needs to be done by the same program?I will post this at the REX forum to see if that cures the other ones who have posted this problem.Interestingly enough, both the Star Downloader and my straight download took between 21 and 26 minutes so with high-speed connections there doesn't seem to be an issue there. Thanks for your replies as I am sure it is frustrating and nearly impossible to troubleshoot every option that can occur.John

Tim;My apologies, I meant to say that those who have posted problems with the download are all having basically the same issue. John
