Recover flight after FSX crash

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was possible to restart a flight after FSX crashes but I can't remember where I saw it. Does anyone know if there is a procedure for doing this. I am finding that FSX crashes sometimes after I have switched to the map display and back.
