Thanks for the clarification. I'll proceed with my current discs.

Whether to buy new FSX and Accelerator?
I originally purchased FSX and the Accelerator pack in 2006. Since then I am using a new computer and want to put FSX onto it. I notice on the MS web site that there is a download dated 2013. My understanding was that the original development team has been disbanded and that no new versions would be released. Hence, my confusion as to whether I should use my original discs or purchased new. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

Cannot get past initial screen on FSX start
Well. Having done everything suggested and a few of my own ideas it appears that the only recourse is to completely reinstall FSX and the Acceleration pack. Not having done a reinstall before I was wondering whether I sould do an uninstall first or just reinstall over what is there. I have a lot of scenery and airfields install among other things so I expect that I will lose connection with those. Is there any advice before I start the process?

Cannot get past initial screen on FSX start
As far as I know nothing was changed between when FSX was shutdown and when it failed on startup. However, when I tried to start FSX tonight I received the message "Error loading GPS engine. The flight plan will not be used".

RC flight plan different from plan loaded in simulator
I have done some more testing and taken into account the various other postings and concluded that the problem is occuring because I did not get credit for one waypoint so RC is trying to send me back to it. I find that when I am told to use own navigation I am considerably off the magenta line on the GPS so I have been trying to turn toward the line, which seems to upset the controller. As pointed out in the responses I should be using the direct to option at that point, which has been solving the problem. I am not sure why I am so far off course wnen I have been setting my heading according to what the controller says. However, thanks much for the help.

M20J cannot get above 20 inches manifold pressure
At full throttle I cannot get above 20 inches manifold pressure. The speed on climb is around 80 and drops steadily until the aircraft exceeds specifications. Any ideas?

RC flight plan different from plan loaded in simulator
I have been experiencing times when the controller suddenly says that I am off course when I am sitting on the red line on the simulator. I have traced this to the plan in RC being different from the one that was built with FSBUILD and loaded into the simulator. I have also noted that sometimes there is no rc4 file generated and am wondering exactly when the rc4 file is created.

Can I change window size?
I am running RC on an HP/Compaz mini along with IYP. RC is working ok but the problem is that the Controller window is a different size than the main window. Because it is bigger I connot see the bottom with the buttons and the departure procedure selection. Is there a way to change the size of this window in a config file? Unfortunately, the mackine seems only to support one resolution.

Running RC on WideFS Client to avoid sound issue
I am moving to a WideFS setup with the client PC an HP laptop with a 1.2 gig processor and 1 gig of memory. I will be running IYP on the client also. Because I have to plug the mic and headphones into the client PC I want to move RC there to avoid the RC sound coming out of the speakers on the Server PC. But first does anyone know of a circumvention that would allow RC to stay on the Server PC and still have the RC sound through the headphones or see any issues with moving RC to the client?

Failed to receive menu item to contact tower
This is the first time that it has happened. I'll try it again today and see if it does it again. If it is consistant I will turn on the log, reporduce the problem and and send the log to you.

Failed to receive menu item to contact tower
Tonight I was flying into Birmingham on final to rwy 15. I received a message from Approach to contact Tower but received no menu item to do so. Each time I received the message to contact Tower I tried first 7 and them 1 to ack and contact. The next thing I know is that RC thought that I had declared a missed approach, which I had not. Any ideas about what mighjt have caused this behavior?

Menu Navigation Problem
I have not been using RC for some time due to personal illness but am back to flying FSX. However, I no longer can navigate to deeper menu levels. For example, I cannot ask for the QNH while in flight. I am pretty sure that I was able to do this before. Any ideas where I should start looking?

Why assign destination runway and STAR in the initial flight plan?
Thank you Ronzie and Chrispeel. Between the two answers I have a much better understanding of how to use SIDS and STARS. I had not realized that there was an upgrade to FSBuild so have installed that. The only question I might have now is whether I will lose any SID and/or STAR that I initially specify in FSBuild when I load the FMC from an FSBuild flight plan that was imported into FSX and is next loaded into the FMC from FSX. The reason that this question arises is something that was said in the Embraer 175 manual to the effect that any runway, SID, or STAR would be lost if the flight plan was imported directly from FSX. However, I suspect that they might be assuming that the plan was build in FSX. Will have to experiment since I assume this advice is particular to the FMC modelling for the 175.

Why assign destination runway and STAR in the initial flight plan?
I am a bit confused by the fact that flight planners such as FSBuild and others provide the opportunity to assign the destination runway and /or STAR when the flight plan is first created. It seems that the assignment of the arrival runway and the STAR would not be known until the controller at the destination airport makes the assignment. Or are the flight planners allowing for exceptional circumstances or is it simply that I do not understand what is normal procedure. I would very much appreciate someone clarifying this as I am just now starting to fly aircraft that includes the FMC and would like to start using SIDS and STARS.

RC loses the plot
Ronzie, I understand what you are saying and think that it was a missed waypoint at the very beginning of my flight. There is a NEW waypoint right at the airport. I am probably missing this one because I do a turn toward the next waypoint on takeoff. I am currently using the FSX planner. What I am not sure about is whether I should do a direct to the next waypoint in the GPS rather than doing the direct to waypoint just in RC. What happened when I did it in the GPS is that I wiped out the entire original flight plan. Any clarification on this?

RC loses the plot
With some regularity lately RC suddenly starts telling me that I am off course and should fly another heading until I can resume own navigation. The problem is that I am bang on course, following the line on the GPS. The flight plan in the GPS shows as still correct but RC now thinks that the next waypoint is one that I have passed some time back, hence the direction to fly a different heading that would take me way off course. This happens whether or not I am using MCE. It does not happen on every flight but often enough to be quite annoying. The only way out of this situation is to specify in both RC and the GPS a direct course to my final destination. Does anyone have any experience with this probelm and/or any ideas about what may be wrong.

Widely varying QNH from RC
I have made the change in FSUIPC, taking the default. I'll see what that does. I have been looking at Active Sky Evolution as an alternative but am somewhat uneasy about anything more to the system. Thanks very much for the guidance.

Widely varying QNH from RC
I am running the FSX real world weather.

Widely varying QNH from RC
I have recently started receiving QNH values from RC that result in more than 500 feet variations over just a few minutes time resulting in my busting altitude. Any ideas what might be causing this?

FSX Flight Planner not reflecting altitude change
When I edit an existing flight plan and save it I am finding that any change that I make to the cruise altitude does not show up when I relook at the flight plan. Am I missing something here?

Syncing FS and RC after FS crash
I believe that I have answered my own question. I had not found anything in my original search but after I posted I started through reading other posts that might have a bearing on the issue and have been able to piece together what appears to work. In regard to my first question about preventing FSX from coming back up with the aircraft sitting back at the original airfield, it appears that that action is exactly what is needed so scratch that one. I have run a brief test by loading FSX at a gate ready for flight. Then I started RC and loaded from RC the previous flight that was saved by FSUIPC. Eventually everything loaded exactly where the aircraft was located at the arriving airport. This happened to be a successful flight so I was on the ground listening again to RC pinging me for missing a crossing restriction. I'll run some more tests but it looks like I have the answer. The more I work with RC the more impressed I am with the effort that has gone into building it.

Syncing FS and RC after FS crash
Sometimes FSX will crash and restart. I have FSUIPC saving flights at intervals, including saving under the name Previous Flight. I can reload the file named Previous Flight but do not see a way to reload RC and be in sync. My first question is whether there is a way to stop FSX from reloading itself back at the origination airfield. The second is how I can get RC back in sync with FSX after I have loaded from the Previous Flight file? Any help would be much appreciated as it is very frustrating to lose the entire flight after hours of flying.

\some problems with default Mooney
No, I always adjust the mixture manually. It just seems that the turbine related gauge does not work at all.
