November 1, 201312 yr Do you have enb installed? In your fsx folder do you have a d3d9.dll file if so remove it and try to run fsx. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
November 1, 201312 yr Author As far as I know nothing was changed between when FSX was shutdown and when it failed on startup. However, when I tried to start FSX tonight I received the message "Error loading GPS engine. The flight plan will not be used".
November 1, 201312 yr Delete the default startup flight plan. Make a new default flight plan. The current one is corrupted. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 2, 201312 yr I cannot find a default startup flight plan In your fsx.cfg, under UserInterface, look for Situation (this is mine - SITUATION=FLIGHTS\OTHER\FLTSIM). This means the default flight is located in your main FSX folder in the Flights\Other folder and it is called FLTSIM. Some people have fixed their problem by deleting everything after Situation=. More information can be found at the following link - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/271197-reset-default-flight-fsx/. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 5, 201312 yr Author Well. Having done everything suggested and a few of my own ideas it appears that the only recourse is to completely reinstall FSX and the Acceleration pack. Not having done a reinstall before I was wondering whether I sould do an uninstall first or just reinstall over what is there. I have a lot of scenery and airfields install among other things so I expect that I will lose connection with those. Is there any advice before I start the process?
November 5, 201312 yr Is there any advice before I start the process? I recommend the following guide to uninstall/reinstall fsx -http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx. Most important thing is that you don't have anything leftover hidden in folders or in the registry. I would add to this guide that you run a registry cleaner like CCleaner before reinstalling. Good luck! Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 6, 201312 yr FSX was running fine last night but tonight I could not get past the initial screen. Any ideas? A long shot, but when this happened to me, it was a dialogue box, hidden behind the opening screen waiting for a click before continuing. (In my case a security warning about a new gauge). I got round it by opening the task manager, looking at the running applications, then bringing the message forward with the "switch to" button. Eugene
