January 28, 201016 yr Hello! So, I have pretty much always flown Airbuses since I am a big fan. However, to expand my basic knowledge, I wanted to try a Boeing for a change. So I went ahead and got 757-200 from PSS. Loving the plane, however one major issue that I encountered. After ATC has lined me up to intercept the Localizer to 16R at KSEA. To my surprise, I could not find the dang NAV frequency at first, then I realized it was directly input through the FMC. Ok, so I have my ILS runway freq. in as well as my Course. but now on the EADI I HAD NO LOCALIZER NEEDLE ! mhmh, I was able to see the glideslope/localizer points, but no moving needle. So I had to line up and land manually. Also, one other thing I've noticed is the AUTOLAND STATUS window, for the whole duration of the flight it shows "NO AUTOLAND" or "NO LAND 3". Maybe that might be my problem ?I was not able to find any further info in manuals on how to configure the autoland or how to "enable" it. hopefully someone will be able to sort me out here. Thx guys
January 29, 201016 yr Hello Luke,As a fellow PSS 757 user I'll try to help you. First: Be aware that autotuning of the ILS can be switched on/off via the setup/settings screen (when in the cockpit hit Shift 6 or 2nd clickspot from left on the lower edge of the screen). Second: Be aware that the PSS aircraft comes with a completely outdated NAV database. So you may find an ILS frequency in the FMC (init ref page) but that may be an old one. Then you get the 'ILS dots' - as the frequency is recognized as a 'typical' ILS frequency - but not the needles. Solutions: Get an up to date NAV data base from www.navdata.at (payware) OR make sure that you have the correct ILS frequency before the flight and tune it manually (with the course) in the windows on the left side of the master control panel. As far as the autoland issue is concerned I'm afraid I don't know what causes the mishap at your end. I haven't come across this problem. Will try to do a search in my 757 though, and let you know when I find a possible cause.Kind regards,Ren René Bongers
January 29, 201016 yr In addition: Have checked the behaviour of the autoland status during a short flight. Yellow 'no autoland' light is on during cockpit preparation and extinguishes as soon as the engines have been started. Light comes up again after shutting down engines. Guess this is how it should be. As far as I know the autoland feature is fully automatic, and does not have to be enabled separately. You might do an extra check as to whether the FMC programming has been completed correctly.Just a thought: Did you download the service pack (1.3)? It might be a 'glitch' that has been fixed with this update.Regards,Ren René Bongers
