"Facebook" connection at AVSIM forums?

Featured Replies

I sometimes briefly take a look at the latest AVSIM forum info at work- this is allowed as long as it's brief and doesn't introduce an issue to employee productivity- and sometimes in my lunch break which is also allowed. My employer has an internet logging service, mainly to catch any employees that visit inappropriate sites such as pornography, etc. Social networking is not in that same league but is considered inappropriate for the work place, so I was amazed when reviewing the latest internet usage report to see "facebook.com" appearing almost in a regular basis. This is a new internet monitoring service that we have so I don't think that has ever been reported on prior reports. I have never knowingly gone to Facebook at work, so when questioning our IT department they suggested that this reference could come from a site where personal information is available on members. This raises the question- would accessing the AVSIM forums in any way ling to a facebook site? The URL references for Facebook were both the usual facebook.com, but also other references that included the word "facebook" in the string. If this is the case, is there a way to access these forums without getting the "facebook" function?I visit 3-4 sites at work, some aviation/sim sites, and others financial related, but all "reputable"sites. This latest internet report contained over 100 pages in a .pdf of URL's that I never knew existed, which I assume are the pop-ups and other commercial information on the sites. It's largely not a big deal other than the fact that I know I never intentionally went to Facebook, hence my question here. Thanks, Bruce.
