March 1, 201016 yr Is it possible to replace the model used for the palm trees with another model ? I know there is an error in the way FSX displays some scenery tiles which results in there being palm trees in areas where they should not be. Is it possible to use an existing tree model and rename it as same as the one used as the palm tree ? Just wondering...Thanks
March 2, 201016 yr I am curious as to where you think that FS is incorrectly placing palm trees. Would you please be more specific? To change the autogen models is not difficult, but it is rather complex and requires manipulating the autogen editor program, something that few know or understand. But, it is possible and probably easier to change the regional assignment for an area so that it displays vegetation that is more appropriate. Or, one can simply change the land class assignment - very quick and easy. More information from you as to location would help in finding a solution.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

I was thinking by renaming a conifer tree model to have the name of the palm tree model then the palm trees would be replaced with conifers. I have decompiled a few of the FSX scenery bgls but am not able to find which models are used for the palm trees so I can rename them. Then I thought a person could just swap bgl files back when you wanted palm trees. Maybe it is not that simple though.....
March 3, 201016 yr I see what you mean - it is definitely a problem when you get palm trees in North Dakota, especially in the Winter! However, you cannot just exchange one model of autogen tree for another, since, first of all, you would have to use the Autogen Configuration Editor to make that kind of modification and it is somewhat complex to use, and, secondly, that would place the new tree in other places where palm trees should appear. But, in truth, your problem most likely has nothing to do with the default FS scenery, since the regional map for those areas does not allow for display of palm trees at all. So, it would appear more probable that you have installed some sort of scenery that changes the region assignment for that area and this has brought about the out-of-place palm trees. Or, something along those lines.Have you any scenery modifications active for that area? And have you tried disabling them?Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 4, 201016 yr Author I only noticed them after installing GEX 1.9 for the US and Canada. However others have reported them in other parts of the northern US even with the default textures. From what I have heard it is an error in FSX even with correct regional files. I think I will take your advice and just do simple exclusion files or use ez-landclass to change that area. I figured it would not be as simple as changing names in the bgl files. Thanks!Cheers-Blake
