I would love to know the technical reason why FS2002 is much smoother in windowed mode than in full screen mode. I'm running it on XP Home.Anyone?David

The most likely reason is that in windowed mode you lose full screen anti-aliasing, and on some cards anisotropic filtering. Both of these are significant performance bottlenecks. Also, if your desktop is running at 16 bit color depth, so is flight simulator (instead of 32).
