ASE Settings with FS9

Featured Replies

First, please pardon my ignorance...I uninstalled MSFSX due to it's high demands and re-installed FS9 which I can run "full tilt" with everything to the right. I just got ASE, having never used AS before at all. I read through the manual that came with ASE (actually printed it out for quick ref) and have dinked around with settings - which was my first mistake. So here's the scoop...An example is today - here in Tucson it is VERY IFR - completely overcast, grey, windy, raining and can barely see the Catalina's on the other side of the street. So I fire up ASE with KTUS as my starting position and then FS9. When I hit the tarmac ASE says it is loading the weather and then weather is complete. The weather in the simulator? Clear with scattered cumulous. I'm stumped. I tried different approaches on getting the right weather to load up but every day now when I can see the actual conditions outside it's nothing like the sim models.I now its me, I'm sure the program is very capable of getting it right but HiFi is dealing with an idiot on this end. So, what steps does everyone use as a prelude to launching FS9 within ASE and then also what are you favorite settings within ASE options? I just have things soooo screwed up right now the weather isn't even close to the real thing.I dunno. Thanks so much in advance. I'm sure I'll have pleanty more questions!Jeff in Tucson AZ

Sometimes, you have to wait 1-2 minutes after the text in sim "complete" so that the weather is loaded. In my ASE, all in default with surface visibility = 59, upper visibility = 50, no data clouds = 0.
