Odd ASE error in the Window Event Viewer

Featured Replies

I just had FS9 crash on me, it has been a while and it gave an error message I've not seen before (see below). I've been having trouble getting ASE to work reliably and think the two are related. So I decided to check the Event Log as well and found several of the above errors. Any idea?

Hi Mike,The top one is from SimConnect not being installed correctly. The bottom one is from VB6. That can be downloaded and reinstalled from Microsoft.

What does SimConnect have to do with FS9? I thought that was an FSX only thing? Haven't had FSX installed in years (and I've clean reinstalled Windows plenty of times so there's no trace of FSX on my system), so I'm a little confused.I looked for the file and it is in the ASE folder, although its version is 10.0.61355.0 as opposed to .61242, not sure if the difference means anything. And is it in some way connected to the runtime error? Does ASE use it?

Hi,Can you double check your ASE and see if you are in FS9 mode and not FSX mode?

I don't check the mode every single time, but just now it's definitely saying FS9. And I don't remember having seen anything else.

Mike,Did FS9 crash on you this time?

The above post, I did not have FS9 running. I will start ASE once more and then FS9 and check the mode, but I'm pretty sure it has always been FS9, both with ASE and ASA before. The last flight I did was an uneventful one, no crash, no weather issues, etc... but... it was with AS 6.5... I've tried harder with ASE than with ASA, but somehow neither is working out.
