March 15, 201016 yr Hello all,I was reading the other post regarding the 50% off discount on FS Dreamscapes Mesh. It seems everyone really likes the mesh but I was wondering how those of you who have tried the photoscenery like it? I know it's just in beta for Utah and Oahu but still interested in some comments. I am considering purchasing the $250 lifetime membership to get all of the future photoscenery released. Has anyone purchased the lifetime membership? What do you think of the photoscenery? I have some Megascenery Earth now and was also thinking of the Sim-Savvy photo scenery. The Dreamscapes scenery should be more detailed though. The only downside would be the wait as it's gradually released. Just trying to figure out what to purchase. Thanks,Mark
March 15, 201016 yr I have a copy of the Sim-Savvy work and can recommend it to anyone.I will refrain from commenting on your original question.
March 15, 201016 yr I haven't seen the photoreal projects from FSDreamscapes, but their mesh look great. From what I have seen of their site and in reading forums, they look to be making some great products, guess we'll have to wait and see. Personally I would not invest $250 in a membership unless I was very familar with their work and had some kind of timeline when I could see a product. While it sounds like a great deal, that is a bit of money and you have nothing to go by as far as product detail. I am excited to see what they are coming out with, with excellent source data, FSX can produce some amazing photoreal visuals.I have tried the Sim Savy examples they had and was not to impressed. Plus the developer also claims they take the detailed source data and resample the detail down to 2m/pixel which is a deal breaker for me. Granted it's a great deal for what you get, but I am all about quality and detail .My opinion, stick with the megascenery for now. Best, Michael KDFW
March 15, 201016 yr Thanks to both of you for the info. I may just wait and see on the FSDreamscapes photoscenery. I really like the idea of having photoscenery over the entire USA and that is the biggest disadvantage of Megascenery Earth (cost and smaller coverage areas, although I do like the software). I will also look into tile proxy since it's free. Regarding Sim Savvy (this is a newb question I know), I downloaded the samples but don't know where to add them in FSX to see them in the game. Do I put the BGLs in the Add-On Scenery, Scenery folder?Thank you.Mark I haven't seen the photoreal projects from FSDreamscapes, but their mesh look great. Do I put the BGLs in the Add-On Scenery, Scenery folder?Thank you.MarkHi Mark, you can do that, or just create a folder named "photoreal" or "simsavy", whatever you want and inside of it create a folder called 'scenery" and place them in there and then activate them thru the FSX Scenery library, pretty straight forward. Best, Michael KDFW
March 15, 201016 yr I Have never liked the lack of quality in their photoscenery products, the lack of decent color correction and as mentioned the poor sampling of 2m/pix.

I will create the seperate folder and just add it to the scenery library. Then I can at least check out the Sim Savvy samples. I am going to wait to purchase anything for now and try the Tile Proxy to see how it works out. I also have GEX and UTX and am very happy with their textures and road placement. I just like the increased realism of photoscenery. I'm going to download the FTX PNW scenery because of the rave reviews I have read on it and then just wait and see what kind of payware photoscenery will be developed from the different companies.Sincerely,Mark
March 16, 201016 yr I've had the FSDreamscapes Oahu 'beta' photoscenery for quite some time. The quality of the photo layer is very high - the resolution is very good, and there are no color correction issues that I've ever seen. There is currently no water mask. If the final version ever gets released, I think it will be a great photoscenery product, but I must say I'm annoyed at having had to wait this long. I guess that's the risk you take on a 'prebuy' in exchange for the low price.
