March 21, 201016 yr If I open the Map window and change Latitude or Longitude by just a small amount, say 1 degree, why does the entire terrain scenery get loaded again, taking a minute or two?--Terry, East Grinstead, UK
March 22, 201016 yr Terry,Scenery/Terrain is not some single layer of imagery that can just be 'slid' to the side and adjusted for your new location. It is many layers of scenery tile resolutions (up to 12, I think) that have to be recalculated based on the landclass at the new location - and somewhat the same for terrain mesh I would suppose. I moved my aircraft in the map mode just 0.000034 minutes of arc ( a few inches, perhaps?) and it did the recalculate thing and was back in a few seconds. But a degree is up to 60-ish miles, depending on where you are... almost everything would have to be recalculated and adjusted out to the widest scenery range. How many new airports have to be brought into the equation also? It's equivalent to starting the flight over as far as scenery elements and terrain mesh are concerned.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
