nHancer and 3DMark06

Featured Replies

Hi all,After installing nHancer and setting it up as recommended by "Nick" elsewhere on Avsim.com, I by chance ran 3DMark06. I noticed a significant drop from around 21,000 3DMarks to around 16,000 3DMarks with nHancer installed. Now this would not be alarming if my suspicion can be confirmed that nHancer is also overiding the 3Dmark06 settings which include no AA as standard. The only other thing I have tweaked since I last ran 3DMark06 was to increase the clock speed of the RAM a little - but that should increase the score if anything, not reduce it so significantly...Please let me know if this is correct?

What score do you get if you stop the nHancer service and use the nVIDIA CP to setup the driver settings?

I can try this - guess it will help answer my question but will stopping this service not cause other problems? Will I have to reconfigure nHancer over again the next time I start it or reboot?

No, there is no problem regarding restarting the nHancer service. If you only stop the service it should restart automatically on a reboot.Yes, you need to reconfigure the nVIDIA CP and nHancer after you've done testing.

Sorry to only come back to this now - in short YES, nHancer does affect 3DMark06 scores significnatly. With it on and configured to the recommended FSX settings, I get around 15,000. With it off, I get closer to 21000. With it on, it seems frames lock at 60FPS in all 3DMark scenario's and never go beyond that (my monitor refresh rate is 60Hz...something in that I think). With nHancer disabled, frames go well beyond 60, in fact sometimes over 100.I read elsewhere on the web that this may have something to do with the recommened FSX V-Sync setting in nHancer - which may also have a relationship to monitor refresh rate. Surprised this has not been documented before (or at least I could find no definitive answer on the web).Cheers,

It was very much documented, and I reposted it again not long agoQUOTE:3DMARK TESTERS FOR TESTING YOUR HARDWARE.. In Nhancer, DISABLE VSYNC for the 3DMark profile. set it to OFF or NONE in Nhancer for the 3DMark06 profile and your Score will be accurate but DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE in that 3DMARK Profile! If you dont use Nhancer, FIND the 3dMark GAME Profile in the Nvidia control panel and DISABLE vsync! That will give you a proper score because with Vsync enabled you are limited to the refresh rate of your monitor in 3Dmark.. ALTHOUGH a 60hz monitor will only display a 'true' 'visual' 60FPS result even with Vsync disabled, the frame buffer of your hardware when 3DMark is run will indeed account for the FPS you are generating by 3Dmark even if the monitor is not displaying that rate visually and score correctly!------------------------------------------------------It has nothing to do with the FSX profile or the Global settings.. you must alter the 3DMark profile and shut Vsync off leaving all other 3DM profile settings alone, all fixed
