Updating landclass in FS9

Recommended Posts

Guest tcable

I'll assume that I can port over my landclass from FS2002. However, when I do so , do I lose roads, and the hi-tension power lines and Railroads that are part of FS9? If they are part of a separate bgl, then no. While the default landclass is far better thatn fs2002, my home is placed in a swamp instead of my quasi-rural suburbia that is actualy present (I live at KTAN, 35 miles from KBOS and 2 minutes from a shopping mall!)Tim

Tim...As long as your landclass uses the Autogen enabled landclasses, you won't lose anything. The texture assignments are still the same. IOTW: Urban still equals Urban, City equals city, etc.... FS2004 may have added new textures--we'll know that when we see the next Terrain SDK. But rest assured if your landclass update supported Autogen in FS2002, it will in FS2004 and the newer features will be seen.-John

Hi John. The default ( worldlc.bgl ) has been altered to give a preference to urban areas. This was a concern of mine and it's nice the design team fixed the problem. This allows many more smaller cities to be displayed by the defaults. This doesn't mean there isn't a need for landclass addons... as Tim found out!Dick
