Gatwick Airport Problems

Featured Replies

Hi,I am an FSX pilot and was flying out of Gatwick airport the other day. I noticed that ATC was directing aircraft for departure on runway 26R and 8L. Not only is this runway a retired runway but the aircraft get stuck on entry to 26R and pile on top of each other. Can any of you geniuses out there help me out?Matt

Matt,I have minimal interest in AI traffic these days but a couple thoughts occur to me;Question first - if you are using default airport, why not download a newer, updated version that has these issues fixed?Simple approach I would use otherwise:Change wind direction; this can dramatically change takeoff and landing runways used if there are any others available.Edit the airport yourself and close the runway.Aircraft getting stuck can be due ( I think I recall) to improperly placed hold spots, and some additional spots along the taxiway can 'break it up' an allow aircraft to possibly move through the sections more easily.Search for Reggie Fields' many posts about airport design and traffic movement.Loyd
