Java has nothing to do with FSX. Goto the temp folder (it's hidden) and delete e1d0_appcompat.txt. Uninstall Java. It's needed on some websites on the Internet but not needed by Windows or FSX. If you ever need it in the future, your web browser will tell you that it's needed. BTW, after you delete everything in your temp folder, run a registry cleaner. You can get more info on your issue by Googling Java. I see via Google you posted this problem over at flightsim.com too?Best regards.Jim

Hi Jim, Thanks for the reply. As far as Java is concerned I downloaded an Add On- 'AI Carriers 2r2' and in the read me file it stated that java was requirred. I will go to the Temp folder and look see but I've noticed that the each time Java has shutdown since I've posted that the error ID "e1d0" changes? So I'm not sure that it's one particular txt? Anyway I'll try as this is causing me great grief!RegardsPete

I stand corrected Pete. Apologize for the poor advice I provided. FSX doesn't require Java though, just this addon. It IS a Java required program and you'll need the latest Java program installed. I would uninstall any Java program you have installed in the Add/Remove Programs location, then run a registry cleaner, then go to the Java website and download the latest software and reinstall. My advice on cleaning out that Temp folder remains though. Your OS is suppose to periodically clean out this temp folder but I found it never does. It does clean out the Windows/Temp folder though (occasionally). I have tons of hard drive space so it's not really necessary to delete the garbage in these temporary folders but I like to keep the hard drive clean. You might also look in your Event Viewer and see if there's an error or reason for the crashes caused by Java. Sometimes the viewer will list more information about the "event" and provide you information on how to fix the problem. Hope this fixes the issue!Best regards,Jim

I've narrowed this java shutdown issue to the instalation of AI Carriers 2 download. I've installed & uninstalled a total of 3 times & each time the Java issue returns. I've completely uninstalled Java once (cleaned out Java from Temp folder as well) and FSX returned to normal operation but cannot instal AIC2 without Java as it's needed in this add-on. Without AIC2, FSX & Java don't have a problem I've installed the latest version of Java and all was fine until I decided to give AIC2 another try. Immediately after installing AIC2 the Java shutdown returned. Obviously there is a conflict with Java & AIC2 just what it is has me beat!! When I do try to instal AIC2 it doesn't show up on the on screen menu under add-ons, just my FSUICP4 is there in the drop down menu. I don't know if it can be installed without Java but it's not doing it for me! Could it be an issue with Sim-connect? I'm clutchin at straws here guys!! I know that AIC2 works as people say how great it is and say they run XP with AVG/Avast programs as I do & don't have any issues. I hope this added info helps narrow down the solution that has to be out there somewhere in FSX Land. :( ThanksPete

If you are running a 64bit OS, have you tried installing the 32bit Java as well as the 64bit version? They can both exist on the OS at the same time.Trevor
