April 16, 201016 yr I am trying to use MegaScenery USA 2005, Volume 5: Mid Atlantic. I have installed thisinto FS2004. I purchased the product from PC Aviator.I don't get the MegaScenery Scenery, just the default. When I put the installation DVD in and install, it installs into C:\megascenery\megasceneryMidAtlantic.After the installation, the scenery update comes on and tells me it can not find the FS9directory, I than Browse and send it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FlightSimulator 9.I than run Flight Sim, but the scenery is still the default scenery.I tried to uninstall the program and than reinstall it, but got the same results.I even tried to copy the file "megaSceneryMidAtlantic" fromC:\megascenery\megaScenery MidAtlantic into the C:\programFiles\MicrosoftGames\Flight Simulator 9, but that did not do anything either.I checked the scenery library and the files are there (Balt, Rich, Wash etc) and they are allchecked with the highest priority.I tried changing my sliders to megaSceneries suggested settings as well as to maximum, and still no MegaScenery. I am running Windows XP using NTSF file system. I even tried running it in the summer just in case, but still onlt the default scenery. Can you please help me. I am not a computer guru, so if you would like to have me try something, please explain it so that a novice (me) will understand it. Thank you .........Steff
April 16, 201016 yr Are there an entries in your Scenery.cfg file for MegaScenery Atlantic? Below is how I set it up but you're going to have to CHANGE the Local= parameter on each one of them to match where you installed it. Don't forget to also change the [Area.xxx] and the Layer= parameter too...Mark[Area.154]Title=Baltimore East E, Maryland (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Baltim_eeRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=154[Area.155]Title=Baltimore East W, Maryland (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Baltim_ewRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=155[Area.156]Title=Baltimore West E, Maryland (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Baltim_weRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=156[Area.157]Title=Baltimore West W, Maryland (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Baltim_wwRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=157[Area.158]Title=Richmond East E, Virginia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Richmo_eeRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=158[Area.159]Title=Richmond East W, Virginia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Richmo_ewRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=159[Area.160]Title=Richmond West E, Virginia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Richmo_weRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=160[Area.161]Title=Richmond West W, Virginia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Richmo_wwRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=161[Area.162]Title=Washington East E, District of Columbia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Washin_eeRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=162[Area.163]Title=Washington East W, District of Columbia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Washin_ewRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=163[Area.164]Title=Washington West E, District of Columbia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Washin_weRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=164[Area.165]Title=Washington West W, District of Columbia (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\Washin_wwRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=165[Area.166]Title=District of Columbia Objects (MegaScenery Mid Atlantic)Local=G:\MegaScenery\Mid Atlantic\objectsDCRemote=Active=TRUERequired=TRUELayer=166

Unfortunately I made the changes you suggested and I still have the default scenery. The MegaScenery MidAtlantic was in the Scenery.cfg file already. The only thing that I had to change to match yours was the "Required=" on mine read FALSE, so I changed them all to TRUE. I also changed the Local= to where I installed it. It actually was already set to where it was installed (C:\MegaScenery\megaSceneryMidAtlantic). I also tried to change the Local= to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\MegaSceneryMidAtlantic\Baltim_ee (Baltim_ew, etc.). Still no effect.ANy other ideas would be appreciated.Steff
April 17, 201016 yr Boy, that's odd. You sure that it's the highest priority, (The biggest number), in your Scenery.cfg file? Check for dups too...Mark

Check for dups too...MarkIs the highest priority the "biggest number" (which to me would be the highest number). I thought that the highest priority would be number 1-2-3-4 etc. which is what my megaScenery is. Should I chnage the priority and move it down to the last on the list? Which for me would be below the "default Scenery" and "Default Terrain", about number 80 or so.Steff

In the Scenery.cfg file it is the highest number, for me it is [area.080] to [area.092], which is the highest in my list. In the settings-scenery library page in FS9 that is where it is 1-13 at the top of the list. I assume that all of this is correct.Sorry for the confusion.Steff
April 17, 201016 yr Yeah, that gets confusing doesn't it. I never use the built in scenery manager in FS9...I edit the Scenery.cfg file myself. When you look at the actual file, the last entries in it usually have the largest Area and Layer numbers even though they might show the number 1 and have the highest priority in the built in scenery manager. MarkDid you check for duplicates by any chance?

I will keep my fingers crossed that they get back to me. Anyway thanks for trying..................Steff
April 19, 201016 yr You're not out of options yet. I think that the first 38 entries in the Scenery.cfg file are defaults from Microsoft so they are necessary. Why not make a backup copy of the Scenery.cfg file and keep it somewhere safe. The delete every thing in it except for the [General] section and the first 38 [Area.xxx] sections. Then add the Mid Atlantic entries to the file and take a flight. Mark

I tried deleting all of the files with the exception of the first 38 (FS default), And copied the MegaScenery MidAtlantic files into the Scenery.cfg file. I got the same results, just the default scenery. I also tried to delete just the default scenery files (thinking that if I eliminate those than just the MegaScenery files would come up. Well, that did not work at all. Most of the scenery was gone.I now put everything back the way it was.Now are we out of options??????????Steff Steff3 (Steve Fink)
April 22, 201016 yr Shoot...really? Hummm...there's something up here. Can you find the actual files on your disk...are they there? They should have installed in a compressed folder...Mark
