April 18, 201016 yr FYI, I have a problem creating a new flight plan in ASE when another flight plan is currently active. The current flight plan navagation log covers the window that pops up for the new flight plan entry. At this point there is no place to click with the mouse to get out of the situation and I must use Task Manager to shut down the hidden window. The solution is to move the ASE window down on the screen before clicking on the Change Flight Plan button so the pop up window is not covered.I find that the only way to display the destination Metar report on the in-flight weather radar is to have the flight plan entered in ASE. If the flight plan is only entered in FSX, the destination is not available to the weather radar. Is this correct? Art
April 18, 201016 yr Hi Art,When you enter the first plan does the window act properly? That is correct, the only way X Gauge knows your destination is through a plan processed in ASE.
April 19, 201016 yr Author Yeah Jim, the first time entering a flight plan is not a problem because there is no data (window) in the navagation log space. I would assume this is a programming glitch and is not unique to my install, unless it's possibly unique to Windows 7.Thanks for the clarification on destination metar display on the in-flight weather radar. Is it also true that ASE will not force destination Wx zone based on a flight plan in FSX? And while I'm thinking of it, will each enroute weather update be based on the nearest station to my aircraft's position while in DWC/global mode? If this is the case, then I need to set the download interval to 10 minutes to properly display real world weather at all points along my route when in DWC/global mode. Correct? Art
April 20, 201016 yr Hi,Might be a Win 7 issue, but many users are using Win 7 and ASE and no other reports of this. What desktop theme are you using? Is it that Aero theme?Users have had mixed results with that force option. If you are looking at the data in ASE, then it is the actual station data and is not based on your current location, but actual data.If you look in FSX the data will be based on your current location. No, no reason to set to 10 minutes. ASE in eather mode will still be showing the actual data.
April 20, 201016 yr Author Might be a Win 7 issue, but many users are using Win 7 and ASE and no other reports of this. What desktop theme are you using? Is it that Aero theme?Users have had mixed results with that force option.I guess you are telling me that you can change the flight plan with an active plan displaying and not have the new entry window display behind the old flight plan data. My theme in Windows 7 is an Aero theme. Come to think of it, I have experienced windows popping up behind other windows other than in ASE, but it's not a common occurrence. At least I know what to do to keep it from being a big problem in ASE.No, no reason to set to 10 minutes. ASE in eather mode will still be showing the actual data.Oboy, I wan't thinking right there. What I was trying to confirm is that, in DWC/global mode, displayed weather in FSX will be based on the nearest station along the flight path so that it will change as the flight progresses (until within the force destination Wx zone). April 20, 201016 yr Hi,Not me personally because I still use XP. Disable Aero and see what happens. You may even pick up some FPS in FSX.That is correct. Even in DWC Mode weather will change along the route as needed.
April 21, 201016 yr Author Disable Aero and see what happens. You may even pick up some FPS in FSX.Obviously you are dealing with a crazy person Jim. I tried it without Aero and everything worked fine. Then I tried it again with Aero and everything still was fine. I'm not sure I can recreate the issue, but I guess that's good.It is my understanding that Aero does not affect FSX performance when in full screen mode. I have a capable computer and like Aero, so I aim to keep using it.However, I promise to seek professional help concerning my illusions. :( Art
