April 19, 201016 yr GUYSBOUGHT FS GLOBAL 2010HAS ANYBODY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SCENERIES, TO WORK WITH TILEPROXY...?SUGESTIONS WILL WELCOMECHEERSJB
April 19, 201016 yr FS Global is a Terrain MESH product. As such it enhances the SHAPE of the Earth's surface. It supercedes default terrain but has NO bearing on the appearance of the ground. It can be used with any other visual enhancement addons - except another version of terrain mesh, such as that offered by FSGenesis (which I use.). If you like flying close to the ground, it is a great improvement over default terrain. It will matter a lot less if you spend most of your time at FL300.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

( ? )In this case, I can change my level_mapping to use from level 14......is this correct..?JB
April 19, 201016 yr JB,As best I can tell with a few simple tests to confirm:Mesh resolution and Texture resolution have NO connection to each other.Tileproxy/FSX terrain (surface appearance) and FSX MESH are totally separate featuresI can set ANY mesh resolution with ANY terrain resolution.I sometimes set MESH at a lower resolution using TileProxy but only to reduce the CPU workload - along with turning off weather, AI traffic etc.Once the scenery is made, I sometimes remember to turn those various features back on.To my best understanding, FSX will use the highest resolution MESH that is available (subject to slider) - you DO NOT NEED to disable any FSX mesh.We can see more detailed mesh pop into view as we get closer to terrain, so it would seem that it is also subject to the FSX scenery ranges, so I guess the longer range settings would bring the mesh into view sooner also.TileProxy settings/level mapping is independent of MESH - set either how you want...FSG is 10m/LOD12 in the USA and a few other places, perhaps. Other places will depend on the resolution that is available for those locations.I believe Justin has a description on his web site that describes the resolutions in various parts of the world... and he is enhancing areas all the time.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

April 20, 201016 yr JB,I agree it is confusing - and it will be for a while.I still need my cheater chart to assist with "conversions"There is one similar to this in the TP User manual but it didn't have both LOD and QMID so I made my own...When they say mesh at LOD10, it means the same thing as mesh at 38m resolution. The mesh data is at 38m intervals and LOD10/QMID12/"level"12 tiles all mean 38m per pixel resolution also. You will eventually get used to thinking in both "scales" at the same time...Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
