universal autopilot

Featured Replies

Hello, Does anyone know of an autopilot that will work with any airplane? For some airplanes that do not have an autopilot. Thanks

You can add, for example, the Cessna 172's autopilot (or any other FS aircraft's autopilot) to any aircraft you like by simply putting the relevant info to an aircraft's configuration file. All you have to do is copy and paste the info from one config file to another.Al

Hey thanks for the help. That worked for the ones that I wanted except for the Aerosoft Dornier Do-27. I guess you need the avionics switch to be on in order for the autopilot to be able to work. Do you know any way around that? Thanks

I've indeed added a basic Wing Leveller A/P to the Do-27, simply by changing the "AUTOPILOT=0" entry to "AUTOPILOT=1" in the aircraft.cfg and then using the default key assignment in FSX for Wing Leveller. (From memory I think it's CTRL+V).This results in a nice Wing Leveller in the Do-27. Nothing too unrealistic as you wouldn't get an advanced AP in an old screamer like a Do-27, but just functional enough to be able to make a coffee while flying! :(

Oh ok. Yeah I know something that old wouldn't have a fully functional autopilot, I just cant sit in front of the computer and constantly fly for a few hours lol.

How do I make the autopilot come on in an aircraft that does not have an avionics switch? Thanks

I normally assign a key for that via the FS menus, any key you like will do. Al

Ok, I got the one working but I cannot get it to work in the Do-27 at all. I mapped out a key like you said and it still does not come on. I know that the Do-27 would not of had something like this but I would just like to have it. Thanks
