April 25, 201016 yr I recently downloaded the Project OpenSky A340-200 and -300 repaint kits to find they only come with PSD files. What are PSD files and how do I repaint with them?I have attatched a photo below of what I got when I tried to paint on the airplane. As you can see, the airplane remains black.I really have no idea on this one...Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!P.S.:My Software:DXTbmpPaint.NET
April 25, 201016 yr I guess the best thing to do is to fall back on that tired old cliche " try reading through a couple of paint tutorials "I say this because what you ask is a large question. The psd is the layered paint kit.The white fuselage is on one layer ,then perhaps shading on the next , then doors , windows on another ,perhaps markings and decals on yet another . Having a layered paint kit makes the job of repainting so much easier .You can paint the fuselage bright pink ,and as long as the doors ,windows and such are above your pink fuselage in the layers window they will display as normal .Once you are done painting you have to "Flatten" the layers so it becomes one single layer ,then save it as a BMP,then do your save via DXTBmp.So as I say take the time to read a couple of tutorials ,they will help you a lot more than this reply ever will :(
April 26, 201016 yr Sorry N60JBRAVO , I deleted your post by accident. ( I am not used to all knobs yet) :( My reply on your post assuming Paint.net cannot be used for PSD files.Paint.et can be used for many PSD files, there are some known issues with extreme amount of layers and alpha layers. Most pantkits however can be edited as far as I know.Used Paint.net for PSD`s myself.Leen
April 26, 201016 yr Can you guys recommend any particular tutorials that would explain this better than others? I'm not running on a whole lot of free time myself, so I'm trying to understand things quickly so I can get the hang of it faster. Thanks for your help!I'll check youtube for painting with PSDs and such to see what comes up. I'll get back to you with what I find to confirm that I'm not being totally senile about it, and doing something totally wrong. :( Thanks again for your help!
April 27, 201016 yr Go to the Painting FAQ`s ( first topic on The Paint Shop )You`ll find the answer there. (forget about Youtube)MIND!Learning repainting is a time consuming thing and absolutely not something to be done in a hurry. Its not possible to learn how to play the piano in a week and the same goes for (re-)painting.My first repaint took me half a year and nowadays ( many years later) I am still learning.RegardsLeen de Jager
April 27, 201016 yr Wow; small world that you say that...I understand what I'm getting into now. I've been playing the piano for just over 11 years now... I hope repaints go a little faster, nevertheless. :(
