Temperature at high altitude

Featured Replies

Hi all. Here is a copy of a post I put in HIFI's forum. I hope I'll have more luck to find an solution here...----I've just purchased ASE and i have a problem:In FSX, it seems that the temperature isn't able to go down -50

Hi,Make sure your ASE is the SP1 build number which is B572.Also note that AS always reports OAT and your plane's temperatures are going to be reporting higher temps. If you slow down to near stall speed or enter Slew Mode in FS watch and see if your temperatures change to something closer.

Hi.Thanks for answer. My ASE is B572. My SAT indicator is SAT so no prob for this.I found the solution: FSUIPC has to be in smooth winds mode and Allow changes to FS own weather must be checked.Otherwize, if I had for example 11 layers, 11 copies of them are generated and as there are too many layers, some are erased and odd things happen for the higher ones. All is OK now and thanks again for trying to help me.Regards,Cyril

Thanks for the suggestion Cyril. Our beta team have always reported warm temperatures when using ASE and flying in the region of 45,000ft to 60,000ft. It is always roughly 6oC too warm (ISA +6). Would it be possible for ASE to factor in something when above 45,000ft, to reduce the upper temperatures by 6oC at 50,000ft?Would appreciate any feedback from the developers at HiFi - I know this is something some of our Concorde-X testers would be happy to help with if needed.

I think that the issue is the same that I had

I really don't think that it is necessary: Dela ISA varies a lot from -10 to +10 and it varies a lot with altitude: the Tropopause is usualy at almost FL320 but it can be up to FL400 or more. So Delta ISA is very much complicated that always +5 or always +0That is quite well simulated in ASE (as far as I can tell as an very uninformed amator) and I make this suggestion:The Concorde-X testers should first try to compare the SAT in Concorde and the temperature given in ASE's module. If it's the same, no reason to always and everywhere having ISA+6 above FL400If it's different, this could be the same bug as me.In that case, try to use my tip and see live the effect of the settings by showing the FSUIPC Weather Log. If you see the line :94755 **** METAR errors: length=1089, spurious layers removed: Wind 11, Temp 11, something has to be done.Best flights,Cyril

Thanks Cyril - what if we don't have FSUIPC?

Thanks Cyril - what if we don't have FSUIPC?
Ah...No FSUIPC at all?I don't know that it was possible. FSUIPC is so used that I thought that everybody had at least the free edition. In fact, FSUIPC seems to be included in many installers... I thought that when you install most products, FSUIPC was installed too.For example, I can find FSUIPC in my ASE installation folder and I'm pretty sure that ASE uses FSUIPC.Can you confirm that some don't have FSUIPC in their modules?Anyway, if it is the case, I would suggest to answer to "What if we don't have FSUIPC?" : "Well, just do install FSUIPC!" :( Regards,Cyril
