Editing existing exclude area

Featured Replies

I've been doing a lot of flying into Narita airport lately and I noticed that there is no autogen anywhere near the airport whereas in real life there are forests right next to the runway. I figured this must be because of a large exclude zone around the airport and I was wondering if it was possible to edit this exclude zone to make it smaller so that I can have autogen trees closer to the airport. I've seen topics on how to make exclude zones but none on how to remove them or minimize them. I use fs2004... Thanks in advance :)

The default land class shows mostly shrub and rice paddy next to Narita, so it may not be related to an exclusion. Perhaps the area needs a new land class file.It may also be possible, if you are using a third-party add-on for the airport, that the objects have incorrect radius values - if they are too large, they exclude surrounding autogen objects. I have come across some scenery packages that remove autogen for very large areas around airports because of this. However, the shrub and paddy land class do not have a lot of trees, so this is probably the principal suspect.Best regards.Luis

Luis,Thanks for the quick reply, I'm using the simmer's sky scenery for narita so I think the problem is related to that. The scenery does have photoscenery surrounding the airport which would normally exclude autogen, however I used a program called Auto trees to fill in the photoscenery with trees. This solved the problem further away from the airport but as soon as you get near the airport the trees disappear. I think it may be one of those scenery packages that have very large exclude zones. Do you have any idea how to make these smaller?

Probably the best way to verify if the objects (terminals, hangars) have excessively large visibility radius values is to remove the bgls containing them and see how the scenery looks and if the autogen displays correctly. If so, then the objects are badly designed. There are really only 2 solutions if that is the case: have the authors fix it or take apart the bgl and fix it yourself. Both can be complicated. But, the problem might be something else - it is difficult to say at a distance. The best thing to do is test by removing the object bgls.Best regards.Luis
