Low FPS in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi all, New to this forum, scanned the forum for similar issue so apologies if it has already been posted. My Rig is:Intel QX6700 2.66Ghz @ 3.2Ghz on air4GB Kingston Hyper X 800Mhz (running @ 667Mhz - don't know why!)ATI HD4870 1GB DDR5FSX installed on it's own HDD 400GB Samsung (300GB free space)SP2 installed, NOT using DX10Mods - UTX and GEX, Wilco, Captain Sim, CLS planesI know FSX is CPU dependant so I am baffled that I get average of 25 - 30fps in an airport like Dublin (EIDW) and 30 - 60fps in the sky. All settings on medium, cloud on low, water on high 1x and autogen @ sparse. If I put everything on high and even leave autogen on normal, I get about 10 - 15fps @ best. You can see a video of mine @

(scenery looks crap - this is the only way I can get smooth fps)Am I doing something wrong?Any help is greatly appreciated as I love this game but it's not really playable in it's current state.

Will check them out and apply what I can later on.Thank you very much. Will get back with the results.

Ok, so I made a few changes to the fsx.cfg file and the results are great! :( Added the following:[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14[GRAPHICS]HIGHMEMFIX=1TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=50 (was at 40) - does make a small difference to scenery clarity - would lower fpsCleaned up my startup using msconfig, adjusted Win 7 for best performance in the advanced system settings, and downloaded FPS limiter and locked to 30 (unlimited in sim). All sliders at max except water, cloud coverage, cars & boats. Airplane traffic is at 49%. My average fps is now a steady 26 - 35fps. Nice and smooth and it looks great. :( Thanks for the help guys.
