May 18, 201016 yr Okay i tryed to make photoreal scenery for FSX using SBuilderX and i cant do it because im missing some files that i cant download. i followed instructions from fsdeveloper.com and i made the photoreal scenery but i cant compile it because i dont have a program that only exists in FSX Deluxe edition or somthing like that. If someone here knows how to make photoreal scenery for FSX can i ask them a favor?I would like Photoreal scenery for the Dominican Republic, mostley in Punta Cana. I would like the whole island done but if not i would like only these three provinces, El Siebo, La Romana and La Altagracia (which has higuey and punta cana in it) Check google earth for province boundaries. By the way i did it, it shouldnt be to hard. I would gladly re-pay you by painting an aircraft, AI or flyable, or sharing freeware files with you. I can also make AI, or share my AI with you, i have huge amounts of AI traveling to Punta Cana and other places in the caribbean and i wouldn't mind sharing them with you. i also have a little over a year of excperience painting planes. I would really like this done. At least Punta Cana done at the minimum. I really need to see some resorts and beaches in my sim :( I would like extra detail around the punta cana area esspesially around the resorts and the beaches. I NEED BEACHES!!! that is one of my main problems, i would love beaches to surround the Dominican Republic coast! Please reply here or give me a PM if you are willing to do this and i will give you my e-mail so you can send me the .bgl scernery files. Also you can tell me if you would like to an aircraft painted and all of the details behind it.Thank You SOOOOOOO Much if you do decide to do this, it would mean so much to me and would make my sim a WHOLE lot better! I always fly to Punta Cana from around the world, mostley because i have been there twice in real life, Great airport, great country, friendley people. It is my second favourite country in the world.THANKS SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!-Ryan-
May 18, 201016 yr Hello Ryan, thanks for the comments, on behalf of everyone here. Maybe it is the weather that makes people smile!Unfortunately, coverage of the area is poor, and the usual image servers (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft) don't really have great pictures - either colors are lousy (Google), only part of the area is covered and then with lots of clouds (Yahoo), or no coverage at all (Microsoft). So, I don't really have an answer for you. I would have done the area a long time ago in photo-real textures except for these problems. You mention that you already attempted the task, so I wonder what image server you used and if you were satisfied with the colors? I can only assume that it is the Google pictures since you mention that.Icky purple colors. It can be rectified, but that is a certain amount of work. Also, adding autogen over large areas is a real chore. But, we can talk about it if you want. No promises though, since I don't really have a lot of free time. Perhaps the simplest thing for you to do, however, is to buy the Deluxe version of FS X - about $30 new in most places.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

Before i start thanks for the Reply. You know what, have them compiled (no autogen and stuff) and ill test them out in FSX, im pretty darn desperate. Compile a small area of Punta Cana so i can test it and, also the a good chunk of Puerto Plata near the airport (to compare) there is a good green chuck that has more then 75% of the city in it, just that little square. On google earth the image is much more sharp and looks a lot better in puerto plata. please compile both, if you have enough time and send them to me. I sent you a PM with me e-mail so you could e-mail it to me. Many thanks!!! Lets hope it doesnt look to bad, although it mostlikely will but alwell, i just want to try it. If want an AI or aircraft for punta cana/caribbean, just let me know!!! Oh and if puerto plata doesnt work out compile Cuba, Varadero. The thin resort strip all the way up to the airport. once again if you have the time too do so :(THANKS!
May 18, 201016 yr Hello Ryan,Puerto Plata does not have any usable images. Here is Google covered in clouds:And this is Virtual Earth, ugly colors and clouds, can't be used:Too bad, but then all we need is a little patience. Just a couple of years ago, we did not even have those images, only satellite pictures. Maybe 4 or 5 years from now, the image servers will provide good quality pictures for this part of the world. Or maybe not, since cloud cover is always important in the tropics.I am fixing up the house so that I can move back, and that really takes up most of my time, so I cannot promise anything for you until that is done. And even then, I have other projects that have been waiting quite a long time (and hopefully Gary and Lance have not given up on me, sorry guys), but I can put you on the list since it is something that I would have done anyway (but, really, the images are not good, and the rest of the country is even worse.)Really, if you cannot wait, the best thing is for you to buy the (cheap) FS X Deluxe, or Gold, versions for the S.D.K. tools. Since this type of scenery can get very large, in the hundreds of megaBytes, it makes a lot more sense for you to make it yourself than to have to send it through Yahoo or Hotmail.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

I went and bought FSX Deluxe before i came home, only $25 thank god. I switched everything from original FSX over to Deluxe and everything is working fine and then some! Quality does look a tad better. Now back to SBuilderX, When i load it up it asks for path's to programs that need to be used to compile the scenery. I am really unsure about what goes where. If it doesn't take up to much time could you give me instructions on where to locate "FSX Resample" or you mentioned "S.D.K. tools" i would like screenshots if you can, to help me, i am more of a visual learner :( Thanks a bunch for all of the help! If i can't make photoreal scenery for the caribbean, why not around my home airport Toronto Pearson??? Hopefully i will figure it out with you help!THANKS!
May 18, 201016 yr Good for you, Ryan. To install the S.D.K. (Software Development Kit), you must locate its directory on the installation disks. There is an installation setup program for it there and you should run it. It will place everything in a directory within the Microsoft Games folder and call it Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK or something. Once it is installed, simply point SBuilderX to the folders where the relevant tools are located. It really would not have been possible to send you those scenery bgl files anyway. As you will find when you start making them, they are quite large and the area you wish to cover will occupy probably around a few GigaBytes! No kidding.Good luck on your projects.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

Thanks so much for all of your help!!!! By the way, just a quick question, how many operating airlines are based in airports in the Dominican Republic? I am always looking for more AI to fill the DR skys, just a few of the more popular airlines if you will, i already have S.A.P. Caribbair, and Air Dominicana, are these airlines still operating?? A few would be nice so that i can create some flightplans and do some re-paints so my DR skys come to life! Anyways thanks so much! I am very fond about your country, I would love to buy a retirement house there one day, but that is quite a ways away!!!!! Goodluck with fixing up your house, Enjoy the weather, looks like overcast with some thunderstorms though :( i swear im obsesed with that place, I just can't get enough of it!!!!!!Thanks! I'll see you around the fourms!-Ryan-
