Watching flight progress on Nav

Hi PMDG and 744 pilotsSorry for the basic question. I'm wondering if I can follow my flight's progress on the Nav screen (waypoints, whatever) if I just want to fly a default flight plan, using FS9's ATC.I have tried entering my origin and destination in the FMC. I think by doing so I may have gotten a plane icon at best (haven't tried doing it in a while).Thanks. Love the plane. I especially enjoy the quality feel of flying it.
