June 7, 201015 yr I have a little request for a repaint If someone would have the time and want to.I would really like a "Norwegian ar shuttle" repaint for the Ariane 2x for FSXNorwegian air shuttle LN-NON tell me if you are intrested
June 7, 201015 yr The fact that there is another 737 with that paint job is useful, since those textures could be the basis for painting the Ariane ones, however, there is another problem, and that is, Ariane haven't released a paint kit for their FSX 737s and instead charge for repaint sets. That is not everyone's favourite decision on the part of Ariane of course, but it's their decision and that's the way it is, and to be fair, their repaint packages also include changes to config files to match custom engine options for the particular real world aircraft equivalent's CFM engine options, as well as cockpit materials and such, so they charging for more than mere exterior model tweaks in PS.That state of affairs does tend to indicate that they are probably not keen on people doing repaints and handing them out on the internet, which in any case it is difficult to do without a paint kit, since what it entails is effectively 'reverse engineering' their default Boeing paint scheme to give you a white base layer on which to work (effectively making your own paint kit), which is something EULAs tend to disapprove of. What I will tell you though, is that I posted a screenie of my 737-900ER repaint on the semi-official Ariane forum, so presumably they weren't too outraged at me having done what was necessary to make that possible. However, I did deliberately make a point of not putingt that paint job up on any servers as a download, keeping it for personal use, thus not releasing something that could be misused against their wishes out there on the 'net, since that may in fact contravene their EULA. The reason I did that, was because it had a lot of the fuselage back to white, which would make doing repaints a lot easier.Even when you have done the necessary to get a white base texture, it is fairly labour-intensive to repaint something like that, because windows, vents, intakes, dirt and such, will be on the same layer of your texture as where you want to apply the paint, unless you take the time to split them (although Photoshop's colour replacement brush can be used in combination with the selction tools to work around that problem). So it is possible to steer around the difficulties if you know what you are doing, that I do know, but then again, I have a Photoshop Adobe Certified Expert qualification and train people on it, so it is understandable that I would be able to manage it, and even then, it doesn't make matters any less tedious LOLThus I would have given it a shot for you, but I only have the Ariane 737-900ER for FSX and their 800 model for FS9, which means I don't have the base textures for their FSX 737-800, nor any means to check a repaint either, even if I did have the textures, since I don't have that product for FSX. So I would recommend seeing if anyone who does have their FSX 800 can do your repaint, either in the painter's forums here on Avsim, or via the semi-official Ariane forum. If you find no takers, you might reasonably give it a go yourself. To do that, you could use either a trial version of Photoshop, which will run for 30 days without you having to buy it (if you don't have it, you can find it at www.adobe.com) or something like Paint.net, which is a good free alternative to PS that can handle DDS textures (do a search for paint.net and you will find it easily enough). There are a number of tutorials on how to paint textures for FS on Avsim, and if you aren't au fait with PS, then I can recommend looking at the many tutorials to be found at www.hongkiat.com In particular, you will need to be familiar with the clone stamp tools (in order to end up with a white base texture on which to work) and the colour replacement tool (which is the easiest method to apply paint to stuff without losing tone and shading detail. You can get a good idea of the basics of Photoshop from an excellent (and very funny) series of tutorial videos on youtube, which can be found by doing a search for a series called 'you suck at Photoshop'. Despite the less than flattering title, those tutorial videos are an excellent way to get up to speed on Photoshop if you don't know it very well.Perhaps a forum moderator could move this post to the painter's forum for you, where it is likely to get more response. If you PM a moderator, I'm sure they'll do that for you.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
