FSX random freeze

Featured Replies

Hello all, new to the forum and to fsx. I'm getting random freezes only when I set the fps lock to unlimited. Locks up everytime. However, if I change to 30fps, it never happens. Now I know some are saying to themselves "well don't use unlimited dummy" :( . But I was just curious as to why that might be happening.I think I have messed up by putting fsx in the default folder. Actually have a second drive I should have installed it on and probably should still do it. My specs are as followed:Win 7 64bit, sp1 & sp2, acc. I7 920 stock, ocz 1600, gtx 260, standard hdd.Fsx is really running smooth at 30fps. About to install rex and gex, hopefully won't take too big of hit on the fps. Almost forgot, have a flight yoke and rudder pedals on the way, what a blast flying off this keyboard... :( .Just a side note, i've been browsing around the forums, doing a lot of reading. I might have got in over my head with this hobby. Oh well, gonna give it a shot anyway. If it doesn't work out, i'll see you folks at the Swap Meet.... :( . Thanks.Mike

I have been using unlimited fps and have never suffered a CTD. Have you enabled the tweaks provided by ******* Bejote (sp) (http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=281538)? The Buffer Pool and HighMemFix tweaks might fix this issue you are having. Not sure about REX but I know the GEX textures have been tweaked to provide better performance than the default.Best regards,Jim

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. I haven't installed any tweaks as of yet. Appreciate the link you provided. Will take a look at that. I first might uninstall fsx and put it solely on its own hd. And then check out the tweaks.Best,Mike
