July 16, 201015 yr Jim,I had to rebuild FSX due to a ton of corruption issues and I wanted to install it on a separate drive, which BTW has worked VERY well. My question is that since building the new FSX, I lost the number of snapshots that I had in ASE. I have now flown two flights without any snapshots and the weather depiction has been better than ever.My first question, what do snapshots do, and where does the data come from when it is building the files.Second question, why is the depiction so much better without the snapshots. I am running FSXsp2 on a Windows Vista system with a nVidia card and the latest drivers.ThanksBob DTW
July 16, 201015 yr Hi,Snapshots are environmental texture grabs from FSX or X Graphics. If you used X Graphics/ASE to generate the snapshots then ASE has some internal data that it uses in pulling together the snapshots.I think your reinstall has more to do with this than the snapshots.None of this has anything to do with how the weather is depicted in FS, just how the weather looks.
