July 17, 201015 yr First af all , welcome to AVSIM Joseph.Today I downloaded your repaint and as you asked for coments I take the liberty to give you my thoughts. As I understand this is your first repaint and I must say I have seen worse first paints. But, as this is your first one its obvious I have seen many better ones too.I can garantee you your 10th, 20th,----50th will be better than this one.Its just like playing the piano, you cannot give a full concert after having had just a handfull of lessons.Let me say something about your opload. You are offering the repaint as a complete stand alone model for FSX instead of just a repaint-set to be build in an existing model and offering a link to the original model by Kirk Ollson ( with its own original liveries).I really think this is not the right way to do it.Two reasons ( among many others ) why not:1st Releasing your paint this way people might get the false impression "this is it" and overlook the complete work of the original author ( Kirk Ollson) .2nd You provide the community with a 49 MB (unzipped) package only containing 4 Mb original work from your own hands and a stripped version of what Mr Ollson made. ( a waiste of drivespace for those having the original model already)I cannot imagine Mr Ollson to be OK with this way of stripping and (mis-)using his personal effort.Anyways you realy should have asked for his permission, explaining to him how you want to use his files. As I stated before I have strong doubts about this permision. Its better to be a bit more............."the beginning painter" offering your textures only, with some lines for the aircraft.cfg, for people to build in the original model.I also visited your impressive website. You really know how to make a fine presentation.(to be frank, I think the advertising-bizz is where your real talents are)Reading this ,on your site , I cannot help smiling.Welcome to Highsky Graphical, a trademark of Project Highsky. The company is run by one person, who is me, therefore I will tend to use the word "I" many times. Highsky Graphical makes high quality repaints and, soon, full, high quality payware and freeware addons for Microsoft Flight Simulator X.I strive to create very high and outstanding quality repaints, models, soundpacks, and other FSX aspects of add-on airplanes. In general, I make addons for Flight Simulator X. In the future there will be freeware and payware add-ons available for download and purchase respectively. Those are in production and I can't tell you the names yet, it's a surprise. Enjoy the repaints while the models are in the works.Really impressive presentation. Keep in mind a product always has to be at least as good as its presentation. In this perspective there`s still some work to do.:( RegardsLeen de JagerpsMust say ,having folders called Guages doesn`t help. ( Gauges is the word)Please have a look at my reaction regarding the SUFA http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=290445
July 17, 201015 yr Thank you for your kind and warm welcome, Leen! Also, thank you for spending the time to write such a thoughtful and nice message. Yes it is my first, although it is not the best, I will keep on going – as you said, it’s like playing the piano (which I ironically do, so I understand what you’re saying 100%). I’ll continue to do repaints and watch as they improve in quality, maybe even re-doing this repaint with even better quality. I’m sorry about the stand alone model, I didn’t know I didn’t have permission to do this, next time I will only include the texture.XX file in my zip. I agree with your reasons and I’ll see if I can contact Kirk about this. Anyways, next time I do a repaint I will put only the texture folder and .cfg lines. Thanks. Thank you for complementing my website, I believe that having a strong backbone and foundation for a business begins with a good website and a lot of good advertisement. I will try my best to do a great model and hopefully I’ll have enough experience to make some good repaints of the model, a good soundpack and a good advanced panel. I may get some help from other people though, so I’m sure my company’s products will be great, hopefully. Yes, lots of work to do, I expect my payware aircraft to be released next year. Sorry about the Gauges spelling mistake. Lol. JosephEDIT: Yes, I have fixed the files (now both are around 3.5MB best zipped, and I have reupped them, also, I asked the admins to delete the other ones)EDIT2: By the way, I'm currently starting "Project 101", get ready for a top quality add-on folks! It will be in a 1 year development phase, then a testing phase and release. Hint: This aircraft has no good freeware and it is not made for payware either.
July 17, 201015 yr You know what, I know why my high quality repaints are not high quality. I painted them in 32bit then converted them to DXT3. Isn't that a fail. I already finished my TAF one so, I guess my next repaint will be 32bit dds textures.Done my TAF, it is with Avsim now. Now I will do a .dds DX10 texture for... the F-16 :(.

Isn't that a fail.Yes and no.IF the original paints in 32 bit would have been of ultimate quality , the dxt3 files would have been very reasonable.Personally I prefer 32 bit files but dds5 comes really close and is smaller. My advise is to go for the utmost quality, bigger files (even larger textures ,2048 square) have very little disadvantages ( or even none) on modern machines.Using a 2048 square texture instead of a 1024 square texture gives you 400% more detail !!!!I am very interested in your new uploads. Will have a look at them asap and share my thoughts.Burning you down is not my intention.I am just trying to boost your fire.Any questions?..............just shoot.Have a nice weekend.LeenPSJust a little explanation about " Photorealistic".Since aircraft-repainting for sim-aircraft started we often see "Photorealistic-paints"So, last years we were talking about "photorealistic paints" when we actually are dealing with simple cutting from real pictures and pasting them on the aircraft model. In fact this is wallpapering a plane with bits and pieces from photos.Actually this has nothing to do with "Photorealistic" painting.( Painting and Pasting are two different worlds)The real "Photorealisctic-paints" are those paints wich are actually have been made purely by hand just using the real-world photos for an example resulting in a paint wich looks as is was a photo.Photorealistic means : As realistic as it was a photo. It does not mean : Made from photo-scrap.Using cut and paste from photos to make a skin to wrap a model in , is a nice simple way to dress a model, but not the way to achieve real top quality.I realise many folks disagree with me at this point , they can cut and paste but are not able to re-produce by hand whats needed to make a paint "photorealistic".I can understand their feelings , but painting and pasting are not the same.It is important for me to emphasize , I cannot make that kind of paints myself ( better said never tried !) , on the other hand I know exactly how to make them and advise others how to make them.Personally I am earning money (alltough its not my corebizz!!) with this stuff , so I know what I am talking about.
July 17, 201015 yr Yes, thank you. I know that, I did that for all 3 of my repaints, just in my sufa, I copied the falcon of the tail. That's all, really, everything else is hand made with pictures.
July 17, 201015 yr Yes I noticed that.Just wanted to make clear some elements of the "Photorealistic paints" in general.Simply said :Photorealistic paints just need pictures from the original as an example.Photorealistic paints are made by hand, not cutted and pasted from.Leen

Then I will work on the FDE's and try to make them as realistic as possible and a panel and a few textures (with more to come after release) it's all a secret though. I love keeping secrets, that's why I just revealed my project 101. ;) Enjoy! (There's no quality payware FSX DX-10 Mirage 2000, so I might as well make one and a good one too) Don't forget empty model, missile model and a VC as well. The gauges may be a problem though, I'll see about that later.
July 21, 201015 yr ??????How come??LeenI've decided to invest my time in working in the real world except this uncertain project.
July 22, 201015 yr I've decided to invest my time in working in the real world except this uncertain project.OK I understand. ( and more or less expected this to happen)In Holland we have a saying ( very freely translated )Having a huge belt and a slim belly, you`ll end up with your trousers on your heels.Best regardsLeen de Jager
