Heading Indicator Off

Featured Replies

Hello, I have been putting up with this problem for a while and can't stand it anymore. The heading and bearing indicators on the MFD of my 737NG for fs9 are incorrectly aligned. For example, if the FMC is saying that the next waypoint is at a heading of 75 degrees, but the heading indicators point approximately 10 degrees further to the right, or 85 degrees, yet the aircraft flies as if it is pointed at 75 degrees and it is. Just the MFD is incorrect. During turns the bearing indicator will align with the next waypoint, then realize the aircraft is not heading towards the waypoint and make the 10 degree correction to the right. It makes for overly dramatic turns while cruising and an unrealistic experience. If anyone has any idea what this problem may be, please let me know. We just switched Operating Systems a couple of months ago from XP to Win7. And that's about when the problem began. I'm not sure if it is that or if some numbers in the aircraft cfg got changed. Thanks, Michael Luchtel

Hi Michael,Did the problem appear after you changed over from XP to 7?I am sure you know the difference between heading and bearing in cross wind situations so I won't bug you with theory (ie heading and bearing are different anytime there is a crosswind component). If the difference between the two still doesn't make sense, the first thing to try is the registry repair tool :http://www.flight1software.com/files/FS_Registry_Repair.exe Hope this helps,Bruno

Thanks for your response and you are correct, the bearing indicator which should be pointed directly at the waypoint even if, like you said, the heading is pointed a few degrees left/right, is now pointed about 10 degrees to the right at all times if the aircraft is flying towards the waypoint. Anyway, I'll give the registry repair a try. Thank you, Michael Luchtel
