August 2, 201015 yr Edited.ASA networked: network working: ASA not updating station database files.Exactly which ASA folders do I need to allow sharing for?
August 2, 201015 yr Hi,The Application Data folder on the Server computer, with Read and Write permissions.
August 3, 201015 yr Author Thats shared and writeable. I kept getting the same message - "Database Write/corruption Problem" - says the station database files cant be updated. So this isnt a sharing thing, its a Firewall thing, right? but DRAT, I cant for the life of me figure out permission - and ASA is not asking for permission which it definately should do.In use Eset NOD32: anyone have any idea how to allow a program: all I can see here are Rules and Zones. Going to their Support.Thanks.
August 3, 201015 yr Author Well I definately have ASA on my Client allowed both ways through my Firewall thanks to a speedy and clear response from ESET forum. On the Server Application data is shared.RC is working networked and FSWide says Connected, so at least something is right. But ASA wont update, so what else have I not got set right?
August 3, 201015 yr Author What I should have asked in the previous post is -Is ASE trying to connect to the other pc in my network, or outside to the internet when I get the "Cant update database" dialogue?
August 3, 201015 yr Hi,From the client computer can your find and browse to the AppData/Microsoft/FS9 or FSX folder and find wxstationlist.bin?ASE is trying to connect to your other PC.What operating systems are you using on BOTH computers?
August 3, 201015 yr Author I can manually browse from Client to Server and to wxstationlist.BIN.XP on both.ASA is in Program Files/HiFi/ASA on my client, and not knowing whether it needs to be or not I have shared the ASA folder. And all this is doubly annoying cos it was working fully before, but I have had to make a temp install of FS in a new location in order to look for problems elsewhere.
August 5, 201015 yr Hi,It doesn't matter that the ASA folder is shared. Nothing from the server is going to need access to the ASA folder. You can leave it shared or change it back.Moving FS around is not going to change anything because that one file will still end up in the same place and will need to be shared. Both computers using the same Workgroup name?
August 7, 201015 yr Author A reinstall resolved the problem.I loaded ASA and it hooked straight up without even asking for paths. Very odd but at least its working.ThanksNicholas
