August 4, 201015 yr I bought the app, IGmap for the Iphone, and I know I've read of users on this forum. It seems like a great way to follow the plane via a moving map without having to disturb the sim. As a matter of fact, I'm sure Geoffa is an IGmap user. In trying to set it up for use with FSX, it asks for a computer PORT!. Can anyone tell me how I find the computer PORT on a computer? Maybe this is the wrong forum for that question, but I know I saw the IGmap reference here. I set the IP address, but I can find no instructions on port identification.Thanks.Stanps. I'd love to hear of experiences with this app if you're using it.
August 4, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi Stan and Matt,Firstly, thanks to you both for your support of iGMap, really appreciate it.The port number is simply a numerical identifier, the accepted range for TCP networking is 0-65535 so you can basically use any number you like as long as you steer clear of any reserved ports (e.g. 80 = HTTP) already in use:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_a...DP_port_numbersOn the Network Pack utility and in the iGMap app we suggest 54321 but as Matt mentions above 1234 is also generic enough not to clash with any reserved ports. As long as the number you enter is the same on both ends and the IP address is that of the FSX, FS2004 or X-Plane machine it will connect. Right?Stan
August 4, 201015 yr Commercial Member The router has its own IP address, but what you need is the IP of the system running FSX. The IP address of the FSX machine will be displayed for you when you run the supporting Network Pack utility. Fermin Fernandez FSWidgets Developer Melbourne, Australia (UTC+10)

At first, I thought that the Network Pack Utility was only meant for 2004 and X Plane. When I got into the installation, I saw how I could connect it to FSX. EVERYTHING WORKS AS ADVERTISED! I enjoyed my first flight from KABE to KEWR so that I could check out the moving map. Looked great, and I'm a fan!Stan
August 5, 201015 yr Commercial Member No worries Stan, glad to hear you can now enjoy the app. Yes, the Network Pack utility is still required for FSX/iGMap, MS have yet to release SimConnect for iPhone. :( Fermin Fernandez FSWidgets Developer Melbourne, Australia (UTC+10)
