August 5, 201015 yr Hi,Just a few days ago, I booted up the computer, wanting to fly a plane. So I did. And then, I started randomly having problems. I looked in Event Viewer and saw (see screenshot):Also, a copy of my sim1.dll is here:http://www.mediafire.com/?wo7paut2a0ni93tAnyone know what's going wrong?System specs are available in the attached file DxDiag.txt, from DirectX DiagnosticsThanks!
August 6, 201015 yr 0xc0000005 is an access violation - basically something in the process is trying to read memory it does not have access to. A virus certainly could be causing that, although a lot of other things could too, such as unsupported security configuration settings. Do you have UAC enabled? If UAC is enabled, disable it and see if the crash(es) still occur. An aggressive anti-virus program could be preventing access too. This could explain why you and some others get sim1.dll errors and many others do not.Best regards,Jim

August 7, 201015 yr So far, nothing's gone wrong after I disabled UAC. I don't know if the problem will recur or not, but for now, thanks for the help!
August 8, 201015 yr Actually, I just had another crash today... Anyone know of any replacement files?
August 8, 201015 yr Actually, I just had another crash today... Anyone know of any replacement files?Sorry to hear turning off UAC did not help for very long. As far as I know, there is no newer version of sim1.dll. As I have posted in several posts throughout AVSIM forums, you should make sure you have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables and the latest dotnet installed as these programs are used by developers to make FSX communicate with new hardware, gauges, etc., etc., and it is possible you are missing some of these files. This was recommended by NickN in his excellent article on Setting up FSX and Tuning it (http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041) in Step 6 of installing FSX. I have all the past redistributables installed as well as the most current for Win7,64 bit systems and the latest dotnet, 4.0 and this may be one reason why I have never gotten this error. At least it won't hurt to check and try this as a fix.Best regards,Jim
