Sound OFF = 5-8 more FPS !

Featured Replies

Seem to remember a thread (or two) about this with FS2002, but I missed any advice/fix.....If I press "Q" to turn the sound off, my FPS counter goes up minimum of 5FPS.I am using AMD 2600XP, Radeon 9800pro, Win XP and 512GB.Can't understand why it takes such a hit on fps for sound......any advice anyone..?!Thanks

Hi mondriver. If your sound is from an onboard chip, the CPU may be used for the sound generation, and that would account for the rise in FPS when it is turned off.Dick

Thanks DickSorry...after all that, I forgot to mention the sound card.... !!I have a PCI (not on board) Creative Sounblaster Live!Any ideas

I have the same card, what I found is turning the sound acceleration from Full to Basic, and setting the sound quality to low in FS, I noticed no difference in any sound quality from changing those settings, now when I turn the sound off I might get 1 more frames instead of 5-8 more. Hope this helps!
