What would be the bennefits of doing so? If you can point me in the right direction on that I would really appreciate it.
September 10, 201015 yr Hi John, The reason why you would need to run FSX as admin is usually write related, being that with FSX installed in the default folder of C:\Program Files (x86) without making any securty changes will block FSX from making writes to needed files, such as weights. There are a ton of other examples but a lot of us just avoid installing in this directory altogether. You can cut microsofts micromanagement hold on it though by adding full control in the "Securty" tab. Just right click the FSX folder and choose Security, highlight your name in the "Group or user names:" section, then choose "Edit". Once again, highlight your name and add Full Control Permissions in the section below. It's a pretty huge blunder on Microsofts part to not have write privileges by default since a lot of games won't run properly without them. I never install anything in either C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) because of this. You may also need to disable UAC (User account control) in the User section in control panel. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
