September 13, 201015 yr Hi,I'm currently using VoxATC UK edition for VFR flights. Something that puzzles me is that, when approaching my destination and requesting joining instructions, I'm inevitably told to 'join overhead'. The only exception to this is if I manage to get lined up in a similar way to a glideslope approach, in which case I may be told to fly straight in.Whilst I understand the procedure for overhead joins, my local airport EGHH (Bournemouth) will normally instruct 'join left downwind', 'join left base' or similar - in other words joining the circuit rather than flying over the airfield first.I suppose my questions are:1. Does VoxATC ever give instructions to join the circuit as opposed to joining overhead?2. Is Bournemouth unusual in the real world in routinely instructing circuit joins? Many thanks,Paul
September 13, 201015 yr Hi Paul, long time since I did VFR with VOXATC however if my memory serves me correctly I do remember getting calls to join both downwind and base in the past. I suspect this would have been at Edinburgh (EGPH) coming from Dundee (EGPN) and possibly even with an earlier verion of VOXATC that the current patch level. For the record I have VOXATC with the UK enhanced pack installed as well.OldBadger
September 14, 201015 yr Thanks OldBadger,Is that a subtle hint to do a bit more flying north of the border? :( Paul
