  1. Ivibe is a really good product when working, but; there is always a but. I had a version II iVibe seat but it broke about 3 years ago and I have not had any positive response from the suplier since then. Craig, the key person, has promised that all individuals who had a version II seat will get a new version III seat but I, like many others, are still waiting. With this in mind I would honestly wait until he is back up to speed in delivering products before making any move. For the record, he dd have legal issues and he did deliver on his promise to give everybody a free upgrade to verion II previously. Ok, negatives over; why have I not complained bitterly about this? This is the key; when working this is really really special. I can only say that the feeling when lifting off the runway, transition from tarmac to going airborne, is very very impressive as are many of the other effects. It may sound unreal but quite simply the effect of subtle vibrations linked into key points of an application like FSX really do give a very realistic effect. I miss my working iVibe very much indeed (Craig are you listening). Hopefully I will soon get a replacement and when I do I can guarantee it will be worth it. Bit of hot and cold there, but just trying to be honest. OldBadger
  2. Can't see either, just done a register as well.Long time user so keen to see what is coming :)OldBadger
  3. Just to add to comments before."downwind for full stop this time" is indeed the command to use and it works fine. I have used it many times when circuit bashing with no problems.OldBadger
  4. Had mine about a year and half, very happy with it. I am no expert in the heavies so don't use all functionality but I have used for IFR with the Realair Duke and have had absolutely no issues. Also bought from flightstore - who are excellent.Hope that helps with your decision.OldBadger
  5. Hi Ron,been using VOXATC for a good while now. Mostly for IFR in the past, although more recently I have been doing a lot of VFR and in particular circuits. Yes you are correct it does take a bit of effort to get it right and the previous version did have the occasional blip that could catch you out, but in saying that, once you get used to it, it is very good and I just would not fly without it.I have not really tested version 6 yet - (only got installed today) so can't yet comment on improvements but the changes to the way SIDS/STARS work should be a big step forward as this was always a bit cluncky before.I personally would put this put product in the same category as Trakir & and decent set of controls for improving overall realism.Version 6, also adds in some new voices (will make obtaining decent voices cheaper as well), the ones with the filtering (VoxPop) which although not perfect are pretty good and add a new level of realism just making them sound slightly more R\T like.I would suggest leaving the prompter open until you are well familiar with the product as if you get something wrong this can sometines confuse the product (certainly older version) which can lead to a bit of frustration in the early days.Well worth the effort to grasp the learning process though.Hope that helpsOldBadger.

  7. A few questions on this exciting news!Does anybody know:-When V6 is likely to appear? The new voices (specifically designed for 64 bit systems) - will they still work with XP 32bit?Will version 6 still be able to work use the old voices from version 5?Will it operate on a client machine (simconnect / fsuipc) or is just specific processors on a the FSX machine?I was beginning to think with very little recent upgrades happening that the future for VOXATC was not as bright as I had hoped but now I am back in a happy place :)Well done Tegwyn and much appreciated for all your hard work in the background.OldBadger
  8. Hi Charles,I usually load a flightplan and then save the flight before reloading the flight. I can't remember if you have to do this to get VOXATC to work or not (you do with SIDS/STARS) but worth a shot.OldBadger
  9. Hi Paul, long time since I did VFR with VOXATC however if my memory serves me correctly I do remember getting calls to join both downwind and base in the past. I suspect this would have been at Edinburgh (EGPH) coming from Dundee (EGPN) and possibly even with an earlier verion of VOXATC that the current patch level. For the record I have VOXATC with the UK enhanced pack installed as well.OldBadger

I voted use SIDS/STARS sometimes (depends on what I am trying to learn).I also find the process difficult to master, particularly the creation/saving/voxatc update/reload approach especially when loading and saving from freeflight menu does not seem to work. Well I could not get it to work from there as it only seemed to worked via the load/save flight from within the simulation. Not the most clear in the documentation either but like most of VOXATC it does add to the experiance quite well.OldBadger
  11. Just a thought; this is not something like the IP address changing due to a lease expiry is it?The reason I ask is that I have had problems in the past when my machines have been switched off for a while. Once they are then switched back on the order that the machines are powered can change the actual IP address allocated to each machine. Net result being that the config is then wrong based on the new IP addresses allocated and simconnect won't work.Don't know if this is the situation for you but it did catch me out (more than once).OldBadger
  12. I Would agree that caution is wise however in saying that I would also keep a close eye on the position because if Craig does deliver on his new version (which includes new software that could somewhat eliminate the lack of modules) and supports his previous customers as he has promised than I would be more than willing to continue to support his system. It really is good when working! There were reasons for his lack of support over the last two years but equally a lot of people have lost a fair bit of confidence during this period so as I said earlier probably best just to keep an eye on the situation and see how it develops but don't completely discount it either.Happy Flying.OldBadger
  13. Can't help much with the other products but I have used an iVibe unit for about 3 years now. Background:You may not get much of a response from Craig (Ivibe) right at the moment (as you say no response so far) but I would suspect this is mainly because he is currently going through the process of a major revision where all current owners will get a free upgrade to a revision 3 product. We might have to pay for postage but yes he has said we will all get the latest version for free. I believe he is therefore concentrating on the new design and his current customers. This product has been somewhat dormant for a period of nearly 2 years and there have been concerns over the levels of support during that period but if Craig comes through with his promise I would wholeheartedly recommend his service/support and product.Product:The difference between his product and the others is that it is not just a 'sound sensing' vibration type unit. It actually uses software to vibrate the actuators in response to what is happening in the game. Why do I mention this; mainly because my unit is currently only working with the 'sound sensing' only option and I can tell you that although it is good it is not nearly as good as the Intellivibe interactions. When working the feeling upon 'lift off' is very very convincing indeed. This is why I am waiting patiently for the V3 product :)The problems over support have mainly concerned the Intellivibe interfaces to games (FSX is a supported product though) and the distinct lack of them coming to fruition. My thoughts:A product with HUGE potential if the support issues are ultimately addressed (watch the website and see what happens over the V3 product) but at the end of the day I will say that quite simply I will always have the iVibe unit running as it is just not the same without it.Hope that helps.PS not associated with this product in any way.OldBadger
  14. Thanks Paul and Loyd,I did try to get the file across (Loys was correct I still have the complete old install working - it just crashes during a flight). It all appeared to be ok and showed the correct key mapping settings in the original install but when I copied across the file to the new install it always revered back to a set of defaults. I am assuming this was in relation to the fact that the original file had different references for the individual USB devices and this then forced FSX to restore a default view.Bottom line was I may have got away with editing the file somewhat however I just went for the laborious task of resetting everything by hand :)Much appreciated for the efforts though.OldBadger
  15. I have just reinstalled all of Windows XP and FSX due to crashes in my previous install.I still have my old version on the c: drive (complete with old windows XP install) and now have a new installation on the d: drive. How can I save the key mappings from the old install in such a way that I can then reload into the new install.Should be easy I know but I am not finding it do.Any help appreciated.OldBadger
  16. Hi Steve, can't help on the 'getting looked at aspect' I am just a VOXATC user like yourself, however I am not getting the problems that you, and others, are experiencing nor do I know what it is likely to be. I tried the flight that Jon mentioned he had initial problems with several times, and on every occasion it worked perfectly for me. I know that is no consolation to you but have you tried asking (support email) over at the VOXATC site itself as Tegwyn has always responded to me whenever I have had issue although sometimes it does take a little while.PS I do use 5.63 as wellSorry I can't be more help on this one.OldBadger
  17. I have not done this in a while so I am a bit rusty however the first thing I would say is that it is not the flight plan that you get VOXATC to modify it is actually the flight. This is what I do;I create a flight plan (I use FS Commander to create the SID/STARS enties within the flight plan) I then save the flight plan within the FSX directory. I then create a flight that uses that flight plan and I save that flight in FSX before using the VOXATC utility to modify it and effectively tell VOXATC that there is a SID/STAR involved. Finally I then reload the flight in FSX and off I go.As I said VOXATC needs to modify the saved flight - not the plan - however the flight plan does have to include the details to follow any given SID/STAR.I think I have got that right but I just can't check at the moment.Hopefully that makes sense.OldBadger
  18. Hi Jon,Glad you are making progress.VOXATC is not perfect however it does add to the experience. I must admit most of my flights are IFR now and although I have not really had the problems that you have encountered when flying VFR I still can't manage a report first time :)I always get 'say again'Happy flying.OldBadger.
  19. Hi Jon,I did one more flight (Cranfield to Kidlington VFR)Same results as before although winds were different so different RW's.Took off RW 22 at Cranfield and shortly after that I got the prompt to say 'clear of area changing to enroute freq' at which point I selected from the options (0 on keyboard) option 5 to contact destination. Then I was given a prompt to contact Oxford tower, then ATIS, then back to oxford tower. After that all instructions were as per the previous flight apart from the fact that they were related to the currect runway in use at Kidlington RW 21.It is possible that delaying the selection of option 5 until much nearer Kidlington may cause a problem so I will try that later.OldBadger
  20. Hi Jon,Just flown the flight from Cranfield to Kidlington VFR.All went well.I set up a flight with a VFR flight plan starting at 'parking location 1 GA small'Picked the aircraft (Realair DUKE), set the fuel level loaded the flight plan and saved the flight.Loaded the flight again and picked 'fly now'You are saving a flight and then reloading it; yes (important)!Comms went like this:-ATIS 121.875 ( seleted and listened)VOXATC; tune to tower '134.925' (I think)Prompt; radio checkMe; 'Cranfield Tower GBAFM radio check 134.92'VOXATC; 'readability 5'Me; readibilty 5 alsoPrompt; ' request startup'Me; 'Cranfield Tower GBAFM request startup'VOXATC; startup approvedPrompt; 'at park 1 ... 'me; 'Cranfield tower GBAFM at park 1 request taxi ....'VOXATC; 'taxi to rw 18 via A F E'After taxing to runway (not pretty - I don't know the airfield and did not have chance to prep) Prompt; ready for departureMe 'Cranfield tower GBAFM ready for departure.VOXATC; 'GFM hold position'me; 'hold position GFMVoXATC 'GFM line up RW 18'Once at the end of the runway VOXATC gave wind and clearance for takoff''left turn out VFR surface wind calm clear take off'Once up in the air I got a message from the prompter to say 'clear of the area change to enroute frequency. This confused me a little as I was not sure what freq to use. I tried the freq for approach at Kidlington but the prompter suggesting going back to the Cranfield tower.I put it back to that setting and pressed 0 to get options.Option 5 was 'contact the destination'.I did this and the prompter suggested changing to a new frequency (sorry did not get it). I think it was OXFORD ATIS and then OXFORD approach. After this I was asked to give a report (standard) and when accepted I got a 'join overhead left hand RW 19 kidlington QFE 987mb report airfield in sight'When I reported airfield in sight I then got a 'report downwind instruction'After reporting downwind I got 'you are no 3 to land - report final'On reporting final I got ' you are no 1 cleared to land RW 19 wind 173 @ 0'on the ground (runway) I got 'turn left any intersection' followed by 'contact oxford ground on 121.95' as soon as I vacated.I then gave the 'GBAFM vacated runway call ' in reponse to the prompter to be told to 'taxi to park 2'As I said this all went pretty much as it should, I did have a bit of confusion with the 'change to enroute freq' however VOXATC handled it all ok.There must be something wrong here with your setup.I am assuming you are saving and then loading an FSX flight and that you have previously ran the VOXATC indexer.Sorry I did not get all the prompts etc for you but I was a bit rushed and thought it better to at least check that the flight worked ok for me.Hopefully it will help a little though even if it is just building confidence that it should work better than you are experiencing.OldBadger
  21. Hi Jon,In order to help a little with confdence I can honestly say I very rarely have any problems in finishing a flight and they are nearly always IFR so no problems there. Even when you add SIDS and STARS into the mix all usually goes ok for me.I will have a go a flying the flight that you describe, cranfield to Kidlington VFR, (that should at least prove the flight works ok or not) but this may take me some time as I have some home duties to perform first :)Almost certainly your problem (number 5) is related to the progam not knowing that you have landed. The normal is for the prompter to show 'report vacated runway' as soon as you leave an exit. As I said before I don't use the prompter all the time so I would just give the call "Golf Foxtort ... vacated runway" and voxatc wil respond with "taxi to park 3 via Golf Bravo etc". In your case however I believe it would not work based on what you describe as the only visible option being a go-around.I'll post as soon as I have the results of that flight.OldBadger
  22. Hi Jon,Sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues.I have not experienced the symptoms you describe personally although on one flight I had a problem when I flew from 'Le Harve' to 'Menorca' (IFR though) where I experienced some difficulties associated with frquency changing. The problem appeared to be (my diagnosis) that I was 'pushing' the program by forcing a 'ready for departure' when it was already working on it in the background. Sorry if that sounds strange but in effect VOXATC was just taking a long time to give me a prompt (i realised this later when I went back for another flight) and as a result it appeared to confuse the later actions of the program. Although the departure commincation itself appeared to be ok it did then forget to give me a new frequency like you describe. The problem for me appeared to be that particular airport on that runway so with that in mind have you tried different airports just to make sure.I know that is not a solution but it may help eliminate the airport itself.I have flown from (Dundee, Edinburgh, Newcastle mainly as my starting points) and these all work very well.Sorry I can't offer any more guidance but keep with it, as it does work and it does work very well.
  23. Hi Jon,Yes the normal way to operate is with a single sound card and all voice / sounds going through that. I operated that way for one or two years in the first place but I do prefer the separation as it just adds a little extra to the experience (not necessary though). You were also asking about overheads processor wise; I don't think the overhead is large, certainly not for me, and I am not running one of the most up to date processors. I have a overclocked E8400 @ 2.6 GHZ but also run at 3840*1024 (TH2G) with the Realair DUKE, Trakir, and heavy clouds (ASA) although ASA is running on a laptop and only injecting the clouds. The clouds have much more of an impact that VOXATC ever does even when operating in this manner. The only tip I would give when using VOXATC is to make sure you keep the prompter visible until you are used to the system as it can occasionally get confused if you give it an incorrect reponse. I did this myself for quite a while at first but once you are used to it you don't need the prompter visible anymore. You can switch the prompter on and off whenever you feel like it though (put it on just for the difficult bits).Hope that helps.OldBadger
  24. Hi Jon,I have used VOXATC for a good while now (UK Supplement). To answer your question I dion't believe you can use it other than through the use of voice control. There is a prompter which gives options that can be then selected through numbered choices however these options really select significant paths within a flight; like the type of approach you want to fly or which runway to taxi to etc.To be honest I strive to get as much immersion as possible within my flight sims and for me VOXATC is a defining product, much like the first joystick or the first time you use something like TrakIR, you just can't go back once you have experienced what it allows you to do.I personally use two sound cards so that I get the VOXATC through the headset (background noises on the speakers) and this also makes a big difference.I think you do need the additional voices, I know they are expensive, but once set up I don't think you would want to fly without it, I certainly wouldn't ever fly a flight without VOXATC enabled.Even just doing circuits in a C152 (UK supplement) is very close to what I have experienced at the local flying club. Not exactly the same but pretty close indeed. The voice recognician aspect is standard Windows functionality.Hope that helps.OldBadger
  25. Not for me either - sounds are all ok after several flights.OldBadger
