VOX ATC v 6

Featured Replies

WOW! I look at all the new features on AVSIM's homepage and it looks AWESOME! Voice Recognition, SID/STAR (by name/navigraph) and VFR/IFR Support. I checked out there site and they have a 7-day FULL feature demo, which is great because people love to try things out first. The problem is I don't have much time this week/weekend to try it out and it does looks like you need a few trys to actually get used to using it. So, I wanted to know if anyone has tried it yet and what there feelings are? Thanks for the reply.Ron Hamilton

Hi Ron,been using VOXATC for a good while now. Mostly for IFR in the past, although more recently I have been doing a lot of VFR and in particular circuits. Yes you are correct it does take a bit of effort to get it right and the previous version did have the occasional blip that could catch you out, but in saying that, once you get used to it, it is very good and I just would not fly without it.I have not really tested version 6 yet - (only got installed today) so can't yet comment on improvements but the changes to the way SIDS/STARS work should be a big step forward as this was always a bit cluncky before.I personally would put this put product in the same category as Trakir & and decent set of controls for improving overall realism.Version 6, also adds in some new voices (will make obtaining decent voices cheaper as well), the ones with the filtering (VoxPop) which although not perfect are pretty good and add a new level of realism just making them sound slightly more R\T like.I would suggest leaving the prompter open until you are well familiar with the product as if you get something wrong this can sometines confuse the product (certainly older version) which can lead to a bit of frustration in the early days.Well worth the effort to grasp the learning process though.Hope that helpsOldBadger.
